High Plateau Humane Society

HPHS was founded in 1987 and we rescue about 120 dogs and 250 cats per year. We are an all-volunteer organization and run a thrift store, called Second Chance Thrift, from which we adopt out animals and sell our low-cost spay and neuter certificates. We have a number volunteers, including a board of five. We do this because we have a passion to rescue orphaned and homeless animals and want to make life better for the animals in our county.

Meet Cowboy

Cowboy is a handsome 2 year old American Labrador (as opposed to the shorter/stockier English Labrador).  He was bred for speed and crashing through brush, and he does both well!  Cowboy gets along well with other dogs but prefers dogs that are not overly "pestery".   He walks well on lead until he smells something good, and then he can pull a bit.  He is not interested in fetching toys, preferring to sniff around and hand out with his family after a nice long walk/hike/run.  Cowboy's adoption fee is $180, which pays for his shots, neuter and micro-chipping. If you are interested in this handsome boy, please email [email protected] with some information about your household and the activities you plan for your dogs.  Cowboy will need a fenced yard and an active and engaging family as adventure is his middle name!

Adoption Process
When someone releases an animal to HPHS, we require a signed release form. We then have the animal vaccinated and spayed or neutered before offering it for adoption. Adoption fees vary and are listed with each animal.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
