Meet Sadie
Sadie – Black Female, 2 years old, 70lbs. Well hello there! My name is Sadie and it is very nice to meet you! Are you seeking a sweet and gentle furry companion who will love you forever? If so, we just may be a match made in heaven! Despite some recent bad luck with injuries, I am one of the lucky ones. I was raised in a loving home but sadly, my person got very ill and was no longer able to care for me, so he got me to those Defenders of Dogs at LRRF so I can find a new family to love forever. Unfortunately, when I arrived at LRRF they discovered I had a knee injury and needed this surgery with a really long name, called TPLO for short. The surgery went really well and now that I have recovered, I feel as good as new! But that’s not all – I also developed this injury called Happy Tail, and even though the name sounds nice, it is not nice at all! My tail was so painful and would not stop bleeding. It hurt me so much, I couldn’t wag as well anymore and that made me sad. So the vet decided it would be best to amputate it. I know I know…a Labbie with no tail, that’s just not right! But for me, it is perfect! Now I have a cute little shorty nub tail that I can wag as much as I want (and I love to wag and wiggle A LOT!) and it doesn’t hurt at all! I feel so much better now and I am very grateful to everyone at LRRF for taking such good care of me, especially my foster mom. She is one special lady! But now that I am healthy and strong again, it is time for me to find my forever home! I am what some folks call a “Velcro Dog”, as in I stick to your side like Velcro! I am a devoted and loyal girl who is always by your side, ready for a good belly rub. I am a smart girl and I am house-trained, crate-trained, and know several commands – I even know how to use a doggie door. I am enjoying getting back to walking now that I am recovered from my knee surgery and I’m working on polishing up my leash manners. Playing is nice and all, but honestly, my favorite activities are snuggle time, getting lots of pets, and cuddling. If we become a family, I hope you are ready for all of the cuddles! I love children of all ages and get along well with other dogs. I am a bit too interested in cats though, so I will need a feline-free home. Sadie is such a happy and relaxed dog. Despite her recent injuries, she remains as sweet as ever. She truly loves people and is happiest just hanging out by your side. She will thrive in a loving home where she can spend lots of quality time with her people. Sadie’s surgeries were very successful and she has made a full recovery with no restrictions on her knee or tail. Her tail is now shorter than the average Lab, but it doesn’t slow down her wag - now her whole bottom wiggles when she gets excited which is just adorable!
