Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Bernard

Adoption Fee: $700   Bernard is a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Pomeranian mix who is ready to live his best life with you! Bernard was rescued from a hoarding situation with several other dogs and taken to the local shelter. We were called to help and we sped over to pick them up. Bernard greeted us with joy and away we went to find him his next chapter! Bernard weighs 20 pounds and every ounce of him is full of happiness and love.    Bernard is an intelligent, fun-loving goofball who is excited to explore the world around him! He is playful and he loves to bounce along the house or the neighborhood. He turns heads wherever he goes as he is absolutely gorgeous. He makes every stranger, human or canine, his new best friend. Bernard also loves to cuddle and is happy to sit next to you for hours as you work. He fits in well anywhere you want him to be. He is very smart and knows how to work his puppy dog eyes to bend you to his whims. We know, it’s hard to resist a dog as adorable as Bernard. Bernard is a fabulous mix of playful and restful. He is happy to get out and explore the world but once he is home he settles in for a long nap. However, as a younger dog, he is the ideal companion for someone excited to explore all the Bay Area has to offer this summer! Bernard is a truly unique dog who deserves all the best, and we know he will find it!  Bernard wakes up around 9 AM and heads out for a brief morning stroll. He likes to stop and sniff all the roses. When he returns home, he has his first meal of the day. Throughout the day, Bernard lays in the sun, plays with his toys, naps, and gets cuddles. Bernard gets another walk in the afternoon once the weather cools down and he greets his neighborhood pals. Before dinner, Bernard gets some training time followed by a session of fetch. He eats dinner at 6 PM while his foster family winds down from the day. In the evening, Bernard hangs out on the couch and gets his cuddles. After one last potty trip, Bernard heads to his crate.  Bernard gets along fabulously with dogs of all ages and sizes. He would thrive as either a solo dog or as a member of a canine pack! Bernard walks well on a leash and knows to listen to commands, but some further training would serve him well. Bernard can’t wait to meet you!   Bernard is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
