Foster or forever home wanted, meet Oreo! Oreo is a head scratcher for sure. Not sure of the circumstances surrounding his first stay at the Lancaster shelter in January of 2024 at one year of age, but we know his next stay. Oreo was adopted and in a loving home until...yep, the dreaded baby comes into the picture. So after almost a year and a half of being in a home, Oreo found himself back at the Lancaster shelter. We will never understand why some people aren't willing to put in the time to adjust to a child and a dog, but we can try to be there to pick up the pieces. A scenario we hear far too often, a perfectly, healthy good dog is in danger of losing his life due to the current crisis in our animal care system. With the shelter currently over capacity with 240 dogs when their max capacity is 170, means dogs have to go. While never ideal, we pulled Oreo out of the shelter to save his life and got him into boarding. Oreo is a fun, playful, goofy, energetic Labrador that deserves to be in a loving home. He knows a number of commands and from what we can tell, appears to be potty trained. Oreo just came into the rescue on May 11 so we will learn more about Oreo in the coming days. If you are interested in meeting Oreo, please head over to labradorsandfriends.org and fill out an application. Oreo is located in Southern California.
