Grateful Dogs Rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue – a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization – was founded in 1990 by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control (SF ACC) volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue SF ACC shelter dogs not made available for adoption and we continue that mission today.Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs Rescue saves as many as possible by fostering them until loving homes are found. Our dedicated GDR volunteers also volunteer to work with the animals at SFACC. GDR is the oldest all breed rescue group in the San Francisco bay area. The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home."

Meet Chichi Junior and Puppy Chulo

Brothers ChiChi Junior and Puppy Chulo found themselves at the  shelter when their person passed away. With all those changes, it is understandable why they didn't do  well in the shelter, but they reverted right into being fun, happy dogs in foster care. They are about 4.5 years old and 17 pounds each. They are both very friendly with people, other dogs, cats and kids. They have a toddler foster sister that sometimes becomes too much for them, but they just go to their safe place, their crate, where she knows she has to leave them alone. They love to run and play together and they sleep together in their crate but really love to sleep under the covers in bed. They are barkers, but listen when you tell them to stop. They are potty trained and somewhat leashed trained, their fosters are working on that. They are picky eaters, especially Puppy Chulo, the one with the white muzzle. They love car rides and trips to the pet store. If you are looking for a fun pair to give you lots of entertainment, these could be your boys! Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for ChiChi Junior and Puppy Chulo is $500. If you are interested in adopting ChiChi Junior and Puppy Chulo , please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ ChiChi Junior and Puppy Chulo are being fostered in Rohnert Park.
