Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Chestnut

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, November 2nd from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Chestnut is a 3 month old Italian Greyhound mix ready to crack open all the love he has for his people! Chestnut was rescued from the shelter at 8 weeks old. We don’t know how he landed behind bars, but we know his life turned around when we scooped him up and flew the coop with him. Chestnut currently weighs around 6 pounds and we expect he will be in the 10 pound range when he is fully grown. With his amazing ears and his adorable body, he’s ready to be your best friend. Come and crack open our amazing Chestnut today!      Chestnut is a super sweet, majorly adorable puppy who has Dumbo ears that are only dwarfed by the size of his heart! Chestnut is a cuddly little boy who loves curling up near his people getting pets… until he’s ready for more playtime! Chestnut is super smart and food motivated, so we know he will be charming your socks off in no time. Treats are his weakness so if you ever want him to show off his handsomeness just pull out a tasty snack. Chestnut would be the perfect pint-sized companion for a trip to a coffee shop, a local brewery, or just about anywhere else an adorable puppy is allowed to go! Chestnut is very social and loves romping around the house and yard with his foster siblings but he can easily entertain himself as needed. Chestnut is Mr. Neighborhood Ambassador and he has the ability to instantly befriend anyone he meets, whether human or canine. We know Chestnut will bring endless joy and happiness to the home lucky enough to bring him home.  Chestnut starts his day around 7 AM and goes out for a potty session. He then plays with his various foster siblings until he is ready for breakfast. He goes back to potty, plays some more, and then is ready for a well-deserved nap. The rest of his day is full of playtime and naptime, like any good puppy’s schedule should be! He has dinner at 6 PM and then gets all his zoomies out as he chases his foster siblings around. He then soaks up some pets and cuddles as he starts to unwind from the day. After one last cuddle and a trip to the potty, he goes to bed in his pen around 11 PM.  Chestnut lives with several dogs and a cat in his current foster home. He loves them all and would be an amazing addition to an existing pack, but he’d be fine as a solo dog too! He is potty pad trained and making progress on pottying outside. Chestnut is truly perfect in every way and we know he will make the absolute best addition to your family!     Chestnut is an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
