Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Froyo

Adoption Fee: $400   Froyo is a 9 year old Shih Tzu x Maltese mix who is ready to serve up cuteness and love for her new people! This tiny little gal was surrendered to our rescue with her Golden Gals in desperate need of a haircut and some love. We heaped it on and got them ready to find their golden year homes. Froyo is a pocket size pup, clocking in at 9 pounds which makes her an amazing adventure companion (from the safety of your purse, of course). She has a beautiful coat which will require regular grooming. Froyo is an option for those with allergies or who just want less hair around the house!    Below is a note from Froyo’s foster.  “Froyo is a sweet, tiny, and loving little dog.  She was shy at first but warmed up quickly.  She happily greets me everyday with a little smile and wagging tail.  She has discovered toys and likes to walk around with a small stuffy in her mouth.  She is very low maintenance and has been go with the flow since day 1.  She recently got groomed and the groomer told me she was the perfect dog and had great manners.  Don’t let Froyo’s age scare you, she still has so much love and cuddles to give.” Froyo starts her day at 6am with the resident dogs.  After a quick potty break she eats breakfast.  Then with her food coma she goes back to bed and will stay asleep until the rest of the house wakes up.  While her foster mom is at the office she spends her days snoozing in one of the dog beds.  She gets a walk either in the morning or night depending on the house schedule.  She walks well on a leash with her tiny legs, enjoys all the new smells of the neighborhood, and could use continued leash training. Froyo will also happily cuddle up in dog sling or purse while you do the walking and she relaxes and takes in the sights.  She is not a nuisance barker but will join in on the neighborhood watch when someone is at the door.  Froyo eats dinner before 6pm and heads to bed around 9pm. Froyo gets along well with the resident dogs who are a little bigger than her at 13lbs and 20lbs.  She is very shy at first when meeting new people but will warm up and want to cuddle after a few days.  Once she gets to know her people she will be the biggest littlest love bug.     Froyo would do well in just about any kind of home that is ready for daily cuteness and snuggles. She would be an option for homes without prior dog ownership. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
