Meet MILLIE

05/16/24 02:51DOG DAY OUT REPORTToday I: Met a new friend! I was a little scared when they first took me out of my kennel, but after a few laps around the parking lot I was feeling brave enough to get into my friend’s car. Then we went on a big walk in Jeffrey Fontana Park! It was intimidating to be outside at first, but after a few minutes I relaxed and started to enjoy myself. There were lots of people on the trail, and a lot of other dogs too. Some of them were very excited to see me, but I stayed calm and just wagged my tail at them. Towards the end of the walk I decided to roll over and get some tummy rubs. :DThree Words to Describe Me are: Calm, affectionate, adaptableNotes from My Walker: Millie is a very sweet girl. Like I mentioned above, she was pretty nervous when she first came out of the kennel, and when we first got on the trail she got a bit spooked about five minutes in and circled back to the car. I decided to sit down with her and give her some pets and treats, and eventually she worked up the courage to keep exploring. After that she was good to go - her tail untucked and she was obviously feeling more relaxed. There were a lot of distractions all around, but she was a very good girl - she stayed by my side, didn’t bark at any of the other dogs, and checked in with me frequently. She didn’t pull on her leash much either. I was really struck by her sweet nature! Even though she was clearly frightened when we met each other, she quickly got used to me and viewed me as a safe person that she could trust. When she rolled over for belly rubs, I was very touched. I think she’d be a great family dog.
