Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Fancy Nancy

This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, August 12th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $700   Fancy Nancy is a 2 year old Poodle mix who was surrendered to us when her former home could no longer keep up with the grooming and care requirements of the breed. From the moment she entered our rescue, we could tell she was special, as she was one of the only pups we have had in a while who LOVED bathtime and took everything in stride!   Below is a report from her foster home. "When we brought Fancy Nancy home, we were delighted in how calm, gentle, affectionate, and loving she was. She was happy to meet all family members and adjusted to our schedule quickly.  We take her out at 8 AM for potty and then feed her breakfast at 8:30. She enjoys a 30-minute mid-morning walk and a nice long nap. At 4 PM, we go on another walk. She eats dinner at 6:30 PM and heads to bed around 11 PM.  Fancy Nancy is an adorable, well-behaved pup. She is like a walking teddy bear, the definition of a dog who wants to be with her people all the time and give them all the love she has to offer. She has been friendly with all people and dogs she has met so far. She rarely barks and does not chew on anything in our house. She is the best snuggler, she is at her most content when she is sitting on the couch getting her belly rubbed. Fancy Nancy is housebroken, she has not had an accident in our care." Fancy Nancy is only an option for those who have had prior dog experience in their lifetime. She will need an owner ready to take on the grooming requirements of the breed. She is an option for homes with children over the age of 8.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
