Minnie

High Plateau Humane Society

HPHS was founded in 1987 and we rescue about 120 dogs and 250 cats per year. We are an all-volunteer organization and run a thrift store, called Second Chance Thrift, from which we adopt out animals and sell our low-cost spay and neuter certificates. We have a number volunteers, including a board of five. We do this because we have a passion to rescue orphaned and homeless animals and want to make life better for the animals in our county.

Meet Minnie

Minnie is one of four 3 month old Hound puppies found abandoned in Modoc County recently.  Fortunately, she and her siblings are none the worse for wear as they were found within hours of being left and have been well taken care of since.  They all received their fist shots (DAPP and Bordetella) the day they were surrendered to the High Plateau Humane Society (on 8/29) and were also dewormed at that time.  They are outdoing puppies and they have been eating heartily and playing happily in their foster  home's kennel.  Given their relatively small size at 3 months of age, we believe these pups will grow to be between 50 and 60 pounds.  If you are interested in Minnie, or one of her siblings, please email [email protected] or call Jennifer at 530-708-2377 and tell us a bit about your household.  These puppies have not yet been altered as we like to wait until they are six months old, so they will be adopted out on a "Foster to Adopt" basis.  Their adoption fee is $300.   For local adopters who can use the Modoc Veterinary Center in Alturas, Aden or Cedarville for services, this fee will include all basic shots as well as their spay/neuter and micro-chipping.  For all other adopters, this fee will only include the shots they have had to date, but $100 will be refunded upon proof of spay/neuter & micro-chipping as long as the procedure is done prior to the pup turning 7 months old.

Adoption Process
When someone releases an animal to HPHS, we require a signed release form. We then have the animal vaccinated and spayed or neutered before offering it for adoption. Adoption fees vary and are listed with each animal.
