Adopt-A-Stray

We are a few dedicated individuals who have formed Adopt-A-Stray in order to save many adoptable pets that would otherwise be euthanized in the shelters in our area. We routinely pull dogs and cats from the euthanasia list, as well as take in strays and owner surrenders as space allows.

Meet Bruce

5/28/24 Still available.  5/17/24 Bruce and his siblings had a very rough start in life. They were born under a trailer. Their mama loved them so much. But she didn't have a home and sadly, she was killed by someone in the area when the babies were only a few weeks old. I had the pleasure of meeting her before she died, and I was impressed by how friendly and loving she was. I wanted to rescue her and her babies but didn't have a foster home for them, so I was taking food to her, hoping they would all be safe until I could find a better place for them. A week after I met her, her body was found in the yard next door to where she had her babies. The woman who lives in the trailer thought mama had moved the babies because she couldn't hear them. They were too far back to be able to see, and there was trash everywhere under and around the trailer, so it was hard to tell if there were puppies, but we assumed they had been moved. A week after the mama was found, the home owner thought she heard some faint cries so she put a bowl of milk at the opening that goes under the trailer, and the puppies came crawling out. They were in very, very bad shape. They had been without food for over a week by this time, so they were dehydrated, malnourished, and had wounds all over them, which flies had laid eggs in. It was horrific. Sadly, we lost the 2 smallest puppies a few days later. Bruce, Demi, and Willis are the 3 survivors. They are now healthy, fat, strong babies! Their mom was a short haired pointer (maybe mixed). We don't know what dad was. These babies are now about 9 weeks old. They have had 2 sets of shots and they have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and started on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. We believe they will be 50 ish lbs when grown. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.
