Meet Tootsie

Tootsie is a lovely beagle with a super sweet personality, always looking like she is concerned or deep in thought.  She has started chasing lizards in the yard and getting a little more vocal and bossy at times.  She is young at about 3 years old and she loves to be near her people and gets along well with other dogs, though a slow introduction is recommended.  She came into rescue very overweight and has been on a weight loss journey over the last 5 months, losing over 10 pounds.  Tootsie still has some weight loss work to do and will need a family willing to keep her active and continue her health journey.  She gets very excited at meal times and will hop around waiting for her bowl to be put down.  She can get a a little “hangry” if her meals are delayed, and she can get excited and a little nippy receiving treats.  For this reason, she should not go to a home with children younger than 10.  She loves to go for walkies in the early morning and evening (hopefully soon!) when it is cooler, and will alert the neighborhood with a lot of beagle howls and barks if she sees any rabbits.  She does get very excited and is pretty strong on a leash with a harness, so the person walking her needs to be steady on their feet.  She has also been swimming at A Loyal Companion through her health journey, which she does well and it is great for exercise, though her foster Mom wouldn’t say she loves it.  She has a life vest and will get into her foster family’s pool with a little help and encouragement, but prefers to stand on the top step and cool off.  As Tootsie has lost weight, she has gotten more spunky and assertive with her dog friends.  She has started chasing lizards in the yard and getting a little more vocal and bossy at times.  She is young at about 3 years old, and we are starting to see her energy levels increase as she gets healthier and more mobile.  She is a wonderful family dog with a sweet personality.  She will be a great companion for someone willing to keep her active, and she will reward you with her sweet disposition and love, and some adorable snoring at night when she sleeps.  If you are interested in meeting Tootsie, please fill out an application and her foster parents will be in touch.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1SnhudHYFJaPfZyCeKy36-9pbowOVOI-xrX4TIiSIxl4/edit  Tootsie’s adoption fee is $300.00.
