Meet TERRA

Terra is a petite, medium sized dog that is most like a Carolina Dog mix (smaller) but shares many of the same traits. She has some particular needs due to her heartbreaking background and will require a very special home and person(s). Once she trusts you and starts to feel comfortable, she becomes a very loving, loyal, kiss-you-all-over best friend. Terra was originally trapped by the county in a rural desert area. She was terrified in the shelter, pregnant and lost her pup due to the stress. We rescued her and she spent a great deal of time with a caring, patient foster and family where she went through an extended decompression and acclimation period due to her extreme fear of people. She has since graduated into a different home to help ready her for adoptions and has acclimated well. She will always retain some inherent cautiousness so a quite home with a calm environment and low-key lifestyle would do best. Terra prefers to stay home where she feels most safe so she would be a great companion for someone who is retired, stay-at-home or just a home-body. She is well behaved and quite but alert, so if she hears something, she will bark to let you know. She is great with other dogs and cats and is a great buddy for a lonely canine. She is overall calm and quite but she also likes to play and will even leapfrog once she gets going. She likes chew toy treats and play with balls. Terra is housetrained, and loves scratches. Once she feels comfortable with you, she will sneak up if you are working or reading and give you little kisses...be prepared to occasionally get smothered in them when you wake up on the morning.
