My Safe Place Pet Rescue, Inc

Cindy is the one who started this organization about 2 years ago, I have been involved for about 5 months as their dog trainer and foster. Cindy has been giving me more responsibilities to prep me to take over. We help abandoned, abused and neglected pets to find safety through rescue, transport, foster & adoption. We do it to promote spay/neuter of pets and to help save as many pets from being euthanized and placed in a loving and forever home.

Meet Charlie

Charlie was adopted from a shelter but is not a good fit for her current home, which is with me [I run the rescue]. I will be very choosy about her new home. I think she will be happier with a home where she has a lot of attention, with an active person or couple that likes to do outdoor activities. I think she would be good with kids, but she would be a lot in addition to children. It would be wonderful if she had another younger dog to play with, one her size or a bit larger as she plays rough. I thought that she was a cavalier King Charles mix, but I am doubting that. I think that she is possibly spaniel and beagle. She leads with her nose, it is always to the ground. The vet thinks she is just about one year old, so she is very much puppy like and has tons of energy. She is missing an eye. I don't have details as to why. She was abandoned at a vets office and surrendered to a shelter. It doesn't slow her down at all. She does finally slow down in the evening, she sleeps with me and she's a good sleeper. She wants to be with you, always. She is always busy and loves toys. She will however, chew up toys that can be destroyed. She has many hard chew bones. She must be crated if you leave her (for everyone's sake) BUT I do not want her to go to a home where she is crated more than just when you are away. She's a smart girl. She is housetrained but needs to be let out often which isn't a problem because she LOVES it outside. A fenced yard is a MUST. She needs work on leash walking. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines and current on flea and heartworm preventative. To adopt her it would require a vet reference and a home visit. Charlie is going to be happy with anyone who can show her attention. I would not recommend older dogs because they just won't be able to handle her energy level. Also, cats are not a good fit. She loves everyone and she is very sweet.  Located in Crestview Florida. PLEASE SHARE!! Adoption fee of $250. Includes spay, vaccines & microchip. Text your contact info to 850-368-6316 and we will send an application for adoption. Adoption application must be approved before a visit is set up.

Must fill out application, vet check (make sure any current or past pets were always up-to-date on vaccines), adoption contract, spay/neuter contract (if pet is not already fixed), microchip contract, and we do home visits/checks and follow-ups. Fees are $125 for dogs and $75 for cats
