Community Cat Inc

We are a small group of people dedicated to ending feline overpopulation in our area. We do this through trap-neuter-return and low cost spay/neuter services through a variety of clinics. We also work to keep feral cats from being killed in shelters buy offering TNR and our farm cat program. We offer help to owners of cats for behavioral issues to try and keep these animals in their home.

Meet Cadenza

Meet Cadenza, the epitome of sweetness and charm! This gorgeous tabby has a heart full of love and a passion for snuggles. She’s one of the most outgoing in her litter and is usually the first to come say hello. Cadenza is a curious explorer, and she absolutely adores chasing flies and any other elusive insects that might make their way into your home. She'll keep you entertained for hours with her playful antics as she stalks and pounces on her tiny prey. If you have a sunny windowsill for her to watch the world go by or some interactive toys to keep her entertained, she'll be in heaven. But don't let her hunting skills fool you; when the game is done, she's a champion snuggler. She'll curl up under your chin and nuzzle against your cheek, all the while stealing your heart. Cadenza would do best with one of her siblings (Crescendo, Coda, Pitch, Treble, Trill) or with another feline friend.   Cadenza has a mild case of genetic megacolon, which is a chronic condition that affects the large intestine and can cause severe constipation if left untreated. We discovered this after a few of her littermates had GI issues. Good hydration, stool softeners, and monitoring can help prevent progression of the disease. Cadenza hasn’t had issues to date and is currently doing well with lactulose one to two times daily to be on the safe side—this is a prescription stool softener that can be purchased inexpensively at a human pharmacy. If her condition worsens significantly in the future, she may benefit from enemas or a surgery to remove the affected portion of colon. This surgery can be expensive (~$4500) but does have a good prognosis. We don't know if or when she will require additional care, but adopters should be prepared for potential medical expenses. If the need arises and adopters choose to proceed with surgery, Community Cat will pay $1,000 towards the megacolon surgery bill to help offset the cost.    https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/megacolon-in-cats   Approximate DOB: May 2023 Foster Home Location: Madison     Consider adopting 2 kittens! There are many benefits including: - One kitten can become lonely and bored - Two kittens will keep each other busy - Having two kittens is very entertaining! - You’ll have fewer behavioral issues with two kittens - You’ll save TWO lives instead of just one - Adoption fee is discounted for the 2nd kitten     If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful cats or kittens, you can apply on our website:    https://www.commcat.org/copy-of-adopt-a-bff   Please allow several days for us to process your application. We are a small, all-volunteer group and we are doing our best to work quickly! After the application is processed we will make arrangements for you to meet the cats that interest you. All of our cats and kittens are raised in our homes and live with us until they are adopted. They live with us as part of our families so we know them very well and we can help you find your perfect cat! Cats are rarely caged (only if its medically necessary) so you can visit with them and see how they act in a home.   Our adoption fees:  Kittens (under 6 months): $150 (or 2 for $225) Adults (6 months to 7 years): $75 (or 2 for $100) Seniors (8 years and up): $40 (or 2 for $60)     All cats are spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, vaccinated for rabies (if age appropriate) and distemper, and microchipped.

Adoption Process
Adoption application can be filled out online or on paper; we check vet and landlord references; adoption coordinator talks with potential adopter; meet cats at the foster home or adoption event; contract requires no declaw and animal must be returned if adoption does not work out; regular fees are $50adult ad $85 kitten but we run specials all the time.

Look for other cats for adoption!
