Cat Action Team

CAT advocates for and supports felines whose caretakers cannot provide for them, as well as for those cats living in counties with inadequate or non-existent low-cost clinics or shelters. By helping cats remain in place, our work reduces the numbers of cats brought into shelters who would otherwise be euthanized. All cats deserve to live in peace in their colonies with appropriate care. Trap, neuter, return (TNR) is the most effective and humane method of working towards this reduction and involves humanely trapping feral cats, neutering them and providing vaccines, and then returning them to their outdoor homes once they have recovered. In order to achieve this goal, we will:Work in partnership with local veterinary offices and clinics to have feral cats TNR'd so that cat colonies come as close to possible as 100% sterile. Aside from financial assistance, this includes transportation of cats and providing shelter to cats recovering after surgeryEducate cat colony caretakers on TNR Provide assistance to colony caretakers with food and shelter as neededMake an effort to find caretakers for colonies who are without oneIdentify and bring outdoor kittens and non-feral cats into foster care for socialization and eventual adoptionKeep a record of colonies in central Virginia so as to keep up with future support that might be neededMake annual estimates of reduction or remediation of colony sizes so as to estimate achievement towards our goal

Adoption Process
Most cats and kittens are $95, while some may be more or less depending on circumstances. There is an application, a home visit, vet reference (if possible) and adoption contract. All cats are S/N, vaccinated, combo tested, dewormed and given Flea/Tick treatment. We do not euthanize due to FeLV or FIV positive status. We find homes or sanctuaries for those as well.

Look for other cats for adoption!
