Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary

We are a companion animal rescue group and sanctuary. Our animals come from many places. About 75% are adoptable - we find them homes. Others are feral (wild) cats who have had no positive contact with humans. They, too, have good lives at Thundering Paws. Our foster home network helps us care for many more animals than can stay at the sanctuary. Some animals arrive fearful and cannot be adopted until they learn what it's like to be touched by gentle hands. Others need time to recover from injuries or illness before they go to their new homes. While spay/neuter is the only permanent solution to the overpopulation of companion animals, Thundering Paws wants animals who are already born to have full, happy lives. That is why we are a no-kill facility. We are a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations to Thundering Paws are tax deductible. We rely on our volunteers and generous donors to keep us going.

Darcy

Tuxedo | Llano, TX

About

Meet Darcy

Darcy , aka Mr.  Darcy  is dapper black and white long-haired guy. With his fancy tuxedo look and his charm and sophistication, he is a distinguished gentleman. Despite his special needs,  Darcy  craves attention and isn't shy about showing it, often rubbing his face on your hand to encourage more petting. This cuddly and affectionate kitty is a true companion, confident in new places and easygoing when it comes to travel in his carrier. While he may have low energy levels,  Darcy  still enjoys occasional playtime, especially with his favorite catnip bananas. When it's time to rest, you can find him curled up in a snuggly bed or on a soft towel-covered chair. Due to his age and special needs, he would do best in a home with no children. He’d do fine as a singleton, and he would also do fine with other cats as he currently lives with several others.  Known Medical Issues: Despite his medical history, including perineal urethrostomy  (PU) surgery and ongoing dietary needs,  Darcy  remains a well-mannered and gentle soul. He tolerates grooming and bathing, although arthritis in his legs can make him fidgety during clippings. He uses the litter box just fine. but due to his PU surgery, he does have leakage of urine from his stoma. He uses paper litter to avoid issues of litter in his fur or stomas which also helps decrease the change of a urinary infection. Nonetheless,  Darcy  is a resilient feline who deserves a loving home where he can spend his remaining years in comfort and dignity.

Adoption Process
We ask potential adopters to fill out an application, which we review. We prefer to have the name and contact information for a current or former veterinarian. We typically deliver the adopted pet(s) to the adopter's home, at which time a contract is signed. We ask for a $100 adoption donation, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, FIV and feline leukemia testing for cats, heartworm testing for dogs, and all veterinary records. If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we take the animal back at any time during his or her life. Until the adopter and Thundering Paws decide together that the adoption is final, we will refund the adoption donation.
