Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary

We are a companion animal rescue group and sanctuary. Our animals come from many places. About 75% are adoptable - we find them homes. Others are feral (wild) cats who have had no positive contact with humans. They, too, have good lives at Thundering Paws. Our foster home network helps us care for many more animals than can stay at the sanctuary. Some animals arrive fearful and cannot be adopted until they learn what it's like to be touched by gentle hands. Others need time to recover from injuries or illness before they go to their new homes. While spay/neuter is the only permanent solution to the overpopulation of companion animals, Thundering Paws wants animals who are already born to have full, happy lives. That is why we are a no-kill facility. We are a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations to Thundering Paws are tax deductible. We rely on our volunteers and generous donors to keep us going.

Meet Baby

Baby is a talkative and beautiful flame-point Siamese mix cat, who enjoys calm and predictable environments where he has lots of room to roam and explore.  He approaches doors like a challenge and is curious about what's behind or beyond everyone.   He's active and energetic, interested in (and into) everything.     Baby wants attention, but is unsure of himself in new situations, which makes him wary of new people. He may hiss or act out with swats or biting if he becomes overwhelmed, until he establishes trust and safety.  Giving him space when he becomes stressed but interacting with him frequently will help him get there. He does best if you let him be in control; he will come to rub up on you and invite that touch.     Play is best in the beginning with wands and throwing toys. When he plays, he loves catnip, anything you can throw that makes noise, and his cat tunnel that he can hide in and run through.    Baby needs space to explore, and a home with a catio or protected outdoor area would be ideal for this interested kitty.     Baby needs new people to take their time to establish trust with him, and he will reward you ten-fold with affection!  Once he trusts, he loves being around his people, and he likes chatting to them throughout the day with his adorable meows. When he feels safe and comfy, he will curl up on your bed, come for pets, and give purrs.  Baby lives in a home with his foster-friend Marmalade. He enjoys the company of another chill kitty, and they get along very well. Baby’s ideal forever home would be with a cat savvy person or people in a low traffic/lower energy home. A home with his friend Marmalade would be ideal, but he would likely come to enjoy another kitty as well, with time and a good introduction.   Baby would do best in a home with adults only who can give him time and space to feel secure. He blossoms into a true love bug once he feels comfortable.    If you love the quirky ones, admire the beautiful ones, and speak fluent "cat" then you could be lucky enough to adopt Baby.  He is worth it!

Adoption Process
We ask potential adopters to fill out an application, which we review. We prefer to have the name and contact information for a current or former veterinarian. We typically deliver the adopted pet(s) to the adopter's home, at which time a contract is signed. We ask for a $100 adoption donation, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, FIV and feline leukemia testing for cats, heartworm testing for dogs, and all veterinary records. If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we take the animal back at any time during his or her life. Until the adopter and Thundering Paws decide together that the adoption is final, we will refund the adoption donation.
