Meet Macy – A Tiny Survivor with a Brave Heart A letter from her foster - “Macy shouldn’t be here. At just 10(ish) weeks old, she darted across four lanes of busy interstate traffic—and somehow survived. I nearly hit her myself. But I couldn’t leave her behind. I turned around, found her trembling on the roadside, and brought her home. X-rays revealed a fractured hip that couldn’t be repaired (X-Ray photo included). To give her the best chance at a pain-free life, our vets performed a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO), removing the damaged part of her femur. After 8 weeks of strict crate rest, Macy made a full recovery. She’s now about 7 months old, has no lasting limitations, and moves beautifully—leaping, climbing, and playing like any other young cat. Her only long-term needs are keeping her weight slightly lower than average (as advised by her vet) and monitoring for possible early arthritis later in life. Macy’s time in recovery left her shy and cautious. She isn’t a “love at first sight” kind of cat. She’ll likely hide for the first few days in a new home. But if you’re patient and let her go at her own pace, you’ll begin to see the sweetest parts of her personality shine through. She is very food-motivated, which can help build trust. Over time, she’s learned that she’s safe with me—she now sleeps in my bed, purrs when I pet her, and cuddles happily in my arms. The love is there. She just needs someone willing to earn it. Macy uses her litter box perfectly and loves to perch in windows, especially if there are birds to watch. She enjoys gentle play and has a curious, thoughtful spirit. She would do best in a calm, quiet home with no other pets or children. A small, quiet dog who completely ignores her might be okay. Her ideal match is someone who lives alone or a gentle, retired couple looking for a quiet companion. Macy has survived more than most cats ever will. She’s strong, tender, and deserving of a home where she never has to be afraid again. If you’ve got a quiet space and a heart big enough to hold a cat who just needs time, Macy might be waiting for you.”
