Meet Sunny, a special little girl who needs a special home. She ended up in rescue because her family had more animals than they could care for. Not long after she went to a foster home, she developed FIP, which was diagnosed on 1/9/25. She immediately started the treatment, which has been completed. As part of her post-treatment bloodwork, she was combo tested and turned out to be feline leukemia positive. She had previously tested negative. A separate test to confirm the diagnosis revealed that it is "regressive". If you Google "regressive feline leukemia," you'll get an excellent overview of her condition, and you'll understand why she needs to be in a home with no other cats. We don't want to put Sunny with other leukemia cats, because we don't want her to become "progressive." And we don't want her to be with cats who don't have leukemia, since she could pass leukemia to other cats. You know who wouldn't be a problem? Dogs and people!! She loves attention. She has lived with dogs and teenagers, and we think she’ll be fine with younger kids as well. Sunny has been vaccinated, wormed, treated for fleas, vet checked, and spayed. If interested in Sunny, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or [email protected].
Adoption Process
Potential adopters are required to complete our application before adoption. Our adoption fee varies based on the age and breed of the cat. The fee includes testing for feline leukemia and aids, the series of distemper vaccines, the rabies vaccines, wormings, advantage so they are flea free when you take them home, a veterinary exam, and the spay or neuter. Microchipping is available for an additional $45. The adoption fee is waived for qualifying adopters interested in one of our sponsored cats.
At the time of adoption, adopters must sign a contract indicating their willingness to obtain all remaining vaccinations, treatments, and spay or neuter. If a placement doesn't work out (e.g., a family member discovers he/she is allergic), the animal is returned to the Stray Connection and re-adopted.
