Cat's Cradle Rescue

Cat's Cradle Rescue keeps cats out of shelters by offering an alternative to a cage - we are a no-kill FOSTER-HOME BASED rescue group that welcomes cats to our home environments as they await adoption. Why Foster Care? Does your new kitty like children? Does she play with dogs or find other felines too uncomfortable to be around? Does he have consistent litter-box manners? Does he want to cuddle or perhaps his comfort zone is to be more independent. Many life-factors influence cat behavior and while genetics plays a role, we know that human touch, kindness, nurturing and consistency of care are non-negotiable requirements. We provide all of this.

Meet PORCONA - Offered by Owner - Siberian

Porcóna aka Porconcita (Popcorn) is originally from Kansas. We brought her to Portland in July 2022. She is a seal point Siberian. She's been indoors her whole life but was NOT socialized as a kitten/young cat. She comes from pedigreed Siberian parents, but her breeder passed away before Porcóna was born so she does not have her registration papers and was not raised properly.   She was raised around other kittens/cats and dogs but has not been around other pets since July 2022. She is extremely fearful and distrusting of humans. We have never been able to hold her. We do not pressure or push her boundaries either. She hisses and backs away, but does not launch forward to attack.   We put a mattress on the floor so we can sit, lie down and hang out and talk to her or just sit quietly so she can see we don't mean harm. When she's interested she will come sniff our feet and try to playfully swat them and then back away. If we have a ribbon, she'll try to catch it at a distance. She's followed the laser point too!   She gets scared easily with noises and sudden movements. Because she's in a room upstairs, we can hear her playing at nighttime and running around (probably after a bug). We feel an ideal home would be with one or two adults that would be very patient and happy to have her in their home without expecting to pet and interact with her. Also, Porcóna is physically healthy. She went to see the vet for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Vet visit 11/28/22  spayed microchipped negative for FeLV (did not receive FeLV vaccine) received rabies vaccine received FVRCP vaccine We had requested they clip her nails while she was under anesthesia but they've probably grown by now. She has not shown us her tummy to see how her incision looks, but she's acting normal and healthy. She is a hearty weight and a good eater.   THE REASON WE ARE SURRENDERING HER FOR ADOPTION: We have a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old and we cannot risk them to be scratched by her if they were to unknowingly terrify her and approach her beyond her comfort level. It's not fair to Porcóna to spend her days alone upstairs because we can't spend more time with her throughout the day, also hindering, delaying or stopping any possible progress she could make. Porcona is indoor only.  Her rehoming fee is $200.   For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the foster parent for follow-ups and meeting arrangement.   Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care. We invite you to become a foster parent and experience the great satisfaction of helping a cat or kitten in need.

Adoption Process
Adoptable cats and kittens are shown on our website with detailed profiles and pictures. To help our potential adopters learn more about the cat(s), we encourage them to first contact and discuss with the foster family if it might be a good fit. Potential adopters must submit an adoption application for review and evaluation. We also have onsite Adoption Events on a weekly basis. Our adoption counselors are present to handle the interview and adoption process. Our adoption fee for single kitten is $120 and $200 for a pair. Adult cat adoption fee is $60. We require that adopted cats be mainly indoor cats and no declawing is allowed. Adopters must be over 21 years old and sign a contract that lists out his/her responsibility as the cat's owner.

Look for other cats for adoption!
