Second Chance Companions

We are an all-volunteer organization, started in 1993 dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area. We have a small number of foster homes that take in dogs/cats (and sometimes other small animals) and no central facility, but we also work as a referral service for private owners who are looking for homes for their pets (we do the screening for them and also provide education to try to encourage them to keep their pets, when possible). We have a low-cost spay/neuter program for the public to try to try to curb pet overpopulation. We also work with our local Meals on Wheels program to provide pet food to Meals on Wheels recipients, individuals in assisted living and senior facilities, and area food banks. When we have the funds, we also provide emergency medical assistance to individuals.

Meet Patches

Yep, you guessed it! I got my name because of the black/grey tabby patches all over my white body. My human mom had to move and couldn't take me with her. Her caregiver called SCC and here I am! I am a little shy at first in new situations but I warm up quickly in a quiet environment and have a great purr according to my foster mom. My age of almost one and a half years is a best guess by the vet. I have been an indoor/outdoor kind of guy but it's really much safer (and quieter) inside and I was always in at night! I haven't been around dogs, unless I encountered them while I was out during the day, but they probably barked and/or chased me so I'd rather not deal with all that again. I am okay with other cats and even had a housemate, Tomas, to hang out with when we were inside at night. My foster mom thinks I would be okay with another mellow cat and would like the company if you can't be at home with me all the time. I have now been neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, updated on vaccines, and treated for parasites. I would love to meet you and see if we could be best friends if you have time for a sweet guy who doesn't demand much from you! Just fill out the adoption application at sccpets.com or at one of the PetSmart stores in the Vancouver/Gresham area. My foster mom will be in touch to set up a meeting to see if we are compatible!
