Miss Dru needs a very special person who will give her the time to settle in to a new home. Dru is just a little over a year old, still a baby. Dru was formerly named Drake because the owner thought she was a male cat. Here is how the former owner ended up with Dru: The owner was visiting someone at an apartment complex and heard a noise. He found a box with a kitten in it. The kitten had matted hair and was soaked from rain. There were other kittens in the box, but they had all died. This kind person took the remaining kitten home, who was Dru, and had to cut her hair because it was so matted and nasty. He bottle fed the baby and his dogs cuddled with her and helped her grow healthy. The owner had Dru for about a year and then had to find her a home, so we got involved. Dru loves dogs, but she is very sensitive and needs a person who has had cats in the past. Dru can get overstimulated from being petted and will swat at you, so she CANNOT be in a home with children. She has to be with an experienced cat owner who will be willing to give her the time to adjust to a new home. She will climb in your lap and sit with you. She slept in bed with her former owner. She did become so stressed after coming to us that she stopped eating, so she does need someone very special to give her a wonderful life. Dru would be best in a home with dogs. She is okay with cats, but she tends to be dominate, so the other cat would have to not be dominate. We think she would be better with dogs. She was around a German Shepherd and larger mixed breed dog, so she is great with big dogs. Dru is a bobtail/Manx and only has a small fluff of a tail. She is medium haired and has soft, silky black and white hair. She has two little black dots on her forehead. She is very small and looks like a kitten. She is only about 5-6 pounds. Dru has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV, treated for fleas, dewormed, and has healed from an eye infection. If you think you may have the right home for Dru, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you an adoption application and answer any questions you have.
Adoption Process
Adoption application. We check references and call vet. There is a $75 adoption fee, but all of our cats are sterilized, vaccinated, and tested for feline leukemia/FIV prior to adoption. We do not adopt to anyone who wants to declaw, but we do not advertise that fact until after the person fills out the application--we do not want them to lie to us if they know they cannot get the cat and declaw. We have them sign an agreement that the cat will come back to us if for any reason they do not want it.
