Meet Wesley

Wesley (1-2 years old.)  Wesley needs a special home and an experienced cat owner. At Cats Cradle, we have all kinds of cats for adoption, and we need all types of potential adopters; fortunately, this area is blessed with first-time owners looking for cuddly kittens all the way to experienced adopters willing to work with a challenging cat who might not be chosen right away. Wesley is one of those challenging but rewarding cats. He looks as charming and adorable as he can be with his gorgeous long tabby coat, but he questions new surroundings and people. He has lived an unknown life in the outdoors before he came to the shelter and, happily, now shows no signs of ever wanting to go outdoors again! Instead, he is content inside (living the good life) where he has playmates, plenty of food, soft places to sleep, and lots of toys. He loves the wand toy! Wesley relishes what people have to offer, and he doesn’t always hide anymore, but he still rushes forward to see if new visitors pose any threat to him. When scared, Wesley will hiss, but when more curious and confident, he will circle around and assess people until he decides they might be OK. An experienced adopter could encourage Wesley to keep working on being a happy housecat who is engaging and relaxed – he just needs to be taught. And that might be the biggest takeaway about Wesley: good teachers, both human and feline, can broaden his horizons and make him the star he deserves to be. He needs a cat friend to emulate as he goes along. We can suggest his buddy Private Ryan  (check out his profile) if you don’t already have a cat Wesley might like. The advantage of adopting Private Ryan, too, is that Wesley will be comfortable sooner in a new home and will continue to follow his more social friend’s lead. Wesley would also do best in a home without dogs or children.

Adoption Process
http://catscradleshelter.org/CCS/how-to-adopt/ An interview with the executive director is done prior to adoption. Not everyone is approved to adopt. Those that are approved have the cat for a 3 week trial period, where they can return cat and get a refund. Beyond that, we always want our cats back if the adoptive household can no longer care for it, but after 3 weeks, the adoption fee is not refunded. An adoption contract is completed prior to final adoption. Adoption fees are $118 including tax.
