Only Maine Coons Rescue

OMC! (Only Maine Coons Rescue) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. We are a 100% volunteer-run/breed-specific rescue group that specializes in the Maine Coon Cat breed. We rescue Maine Coon Cat/Kitten mixes from shelters and unwanted situations. On occasion, we rescue purebred (PB) Maine Coon Cat/Kitten(s). This means that they have papers registering them as a purebred cat. In addition all of our cats are lovingly cared for in Foster homes until they are placed into their “furrever” homes.Although we cannot guarantee the percentage of Maine Coon in each cat that we rescue. Be assured that each “Coonie” cat represents the breed in a satisfactory manner. Please take a look at the Maine Coon cats in need of a “furrever” home by clicking on this link: Available Cats.In order to start the adoption process, please fill out an Adoption Application by clicking on this link Adoption Application. We are a close-knit group who all work together to make adoptions happen as quickly as possible, and to ensure a happy ending for the coonie and the new adopter.

Meet FLY GUY

Meet Fly Guy! This gentle sweetie came to us in rough shape, suffering from hypothermia and severe dehydration, matted fur and treatable wounds. Guy can be a bit cautious around children and seems fearful of men, but with time, patience and love we think he will thrive. He’s not a fan of baths, but he handles it without biting, scratching or being vocal. Though he’s quick to find his escape route when cornered and is certainly regaining muscle strength! Guy enjoys being brushed and even aggressive chin scratches. His FAVORITE food is Blue Buffalo Puree pouches. When looking for a feline companion, Guy might be the perfect match for you. He will need a dedicated adopter who is willing to give him the time and attention he needs to open up. He prefers to stay out of sight and under a bed, but does enjoy the daily pets when his foster crawls under the bed to spend time with him.    *Update 12/1/24* Fly Guy has opened up to his surroundings immensely compared to his arrival temperament. Guy will thrive in a home with another friendly feline. His engagement with his foster increased greatly after introducing him to his foster brother. When the kids are asleep with the dog, Guy and his brother spend the evening exploring the first floor of the house while playing together for hours. Guy will still cower and flea at the slightest unexpected sound or movement. However, he will quickly return when he realizes there is no threat. He continues to flee children and is apprehensive of men so he remains in hiding during the days     *Update 2/8/25* Guy is always on the fly, whether he knows you or not he will flee easily BUT will happily come back and offer you his trust if you lower your hand to him. He has grown to coexist with our family dog and loves his feline foster siblings. Guy would definitely grow to be a cuddler if he were to find a home with adults, as he is easily timid of children. His fears don't hold him back as he always resurfaces for pets. With less chatter in the home, I'm convinced Fly Guy will become more and more comfortable in his atmosphere and be less on the fly. He has become more accustomed to the foster dad of the house, but would still do well in a home with a female figure. Although he does okay with the kids and dog, he'd flourish in a quieter environment.

Adoption Process
An application is submitted to our organization. The application is assigned to adoption coordinator for processing. The adoption coordinator interviews and follows up on references. Then they write up an application summary, and post for the group to vote on. The group votes on the applicant’s adoption status. Once approved to adopt thru our organization, they may pick a cat/kitten to adopt. If approved by the foster parent the adoption process proceeds. Applicant submits adoption agreement and donation is made and then the adopter picks up or we deliver the cat/kitten. Adoption is complete.
