Meet Kazi,DLH (w/ Ned?) (FCID# 02/28/2024 - 59) RC

Bunny- and Cat-Friendly!!  Please meet Kazi; he is about 5 months old as of 5/1/24. Kazi is a gorgeous shy boy that needs a home with patient and loving cat people. He is what some cat experts would call a wallflower. He was very scared when he first came to his foster home. He would hide and duck his head and wasn’t sure how he felt about being in a home with people. He spent his first week hiding in a cat tree.  His foster mom could pick him up and pet him, but he was very uncomfortable, so she took things very slowly and let him come to her and out into his environment on his own terms.  He started to seem interested in toys and would peek his little head out to watch her play with his foster brother Ned (FCID# 02/28/2024 - 58), and things looked like they might be starting to change.  Then, both Kazi and Ned started showing signs of a fungal infection. The treatment was almost a month of medication and twice a week baths. This did not endear Kazi to people, and he became hand shy and retreated when he would see people coming.  But that was ok, and his foster family started the process again, knowing it would just take a little extra time. When Kazi and Ned were allowed to leave quarantine and interact with the family and the other cats in the home, his foster family made sure Kazi had a lot of places to perch on and spots where he could feel safe while acclimating to his new surroundings. It’s been taking some time, but Kazi has been making tons of progress. He has had a lot of help from Ned and the other cats in the house. They give him confidence to come out of his favorite spots to run and play with all of them.  He is still timid and a bit scared of everything that goes on in a household, but every day his confidence grows. He now comes out of his hiding spot for treats and the sound of his favorite toy. He is comfortable with his foster mom and lets her pet him and he feels safe enough to stretch out on the bed with her and purrs when she gives him chin scratches. He still runs at loud sounds, if you move too fast, or someone starts running up the stairs, but he is starting to remember that those sounds are ok, and he stops running half-way or comes right back out of his safe spot.  Kazi is going to need some time to acclimate to his new family, but we know with love and patience he is going to blossom into a pretty cool cat! Kazi really gets a lot of confidence and security from his foster brother Ned. They aren’t litter mates, but they came into the rescue from the same cat colony and have been each other’s support system, playmates, and cuddle buddies through their month-long quarantine.  We would really love it if Kazi could be adopted with Ned. If that is not possible Kazi really needs a home with another friendly playful cat that would want to spend time with him and show him the ropes in his new home. Check out Ned’s bio to learn more about him, too. Please submit our no-obligation Adoption Application for a meet and greet or to adopt at:  https://forgottencats.org/adoption-application/.  Thank you!  (Foster:  Laura K.)
