Southern Ocean County Animal Facility

The Ocean County Health Department operates two animal facilities. The Ocean County Animal Facilities provide temporary housing for dogs and cats and maintain a 24-hour receiving service for stray animals that are brought in by Municipal Animal Control Officers. Features of the shelters include indoor/outdoor dog runs, cat rooms, isolation areas and surgical facilities. All of the pets we adopt out are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations, and receive a general health exam from our veterinarian.

Meet Slinky

Slinky, DSH, Brown Tiger, Female spayed, 1 year old Slinky is a very shy and timid girl.  She may need some time to warm up and would do best in a calm and quiet home with a family that can give her the time she needs to adjust to her new surroundings.  Before any cat or kitten gets adopted they are spayed or neutered, micro chipped and up to date on shots. All members of the household must meet the cat and the adopter must provide proof of either home ownership or a lease with a pet policy allowing cats.  To meet our cats visit them at the shelter. We are open for adoptions between 1 o'clock and 4 o'clock every day including weekends.

Adoption Process
Cats $55, Dogs $60; All pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and receive a general health exam from our veterinarian. To adopt you must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid form of ID, present proof of home ownership, or a lease/rental agreement with a clearly stated pet policy. All members of the household must come in to meet the pet prior to adoption. If looking to adopt dog, and currently have dogs, they must also come in to do a meet.
