Meet Smokey

Smokey was a stray in Bismarck, Mo and befriended a shop owner there. He was limping and hungry. He didn’t resist at all when she picked him up and took him in. That’s when she reached out to Heartland.  Smokey is now off the streets with a warm bed and food at his disposal at all times. He is very calm and low key. He loves looking out the window and sleeping on his memory foam pillow. He is learning that toys can be fun too! He will come running for wet food and treats. He is pretty oblivious to the other cats in the room and has not been dog tested. Smokey is neutered, microchipped , tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and is current on vaccinations. 14325JT

Adoption Process
the first step in our process is an application. The questions on the application are designed to determine if the pet would be a good fit in this home. We contact the applicant’s veterinarian to verify they have a good history of previous (or current) pet care. We meet the applicant at Petsmart or at their home to allow them to interact with the pet they are interested in adopting. If all goes well the adoption is finalized. We have an adoption contract, requiring regular vet care, indoor homes, return to us if it doesn’t work out, etc. Our dog adoption fee is $175, cats range from $80 for older cats to $125 for kittens
