Meet Zelda / Gatsby

Zelda and Gatsby are an 8-year-old bonded girl duo who are looking for their forever home together! Zelda is a sweet, quiet and reserved girl initially but will show you lots of love and attention once you can work with her to establish trust. Gatsby on the other hand is a social cat who would like nothing more than to sit in a room where her humans are.First, Gatsby: Gatsby is known for her dynamic and engaging personality. She communicates through endearing little chirps, and her alert, intelligent eyes suggest she is perceptive and aware of her surroundings. Gatsby is a social cat who enjoys the company of her human family, often following them around the house. While she isn't particularly fond of being picked up or constantly petted, she does enjoy cheek rubs and being brushed (which is essential to keeping her lovely coat healthy and free of mats). Her playfulness shines through in her love for stick toys and her daily "zoomie" moments, where she energetically plays and runs with her toys. Gatsby also enjoys sitting on the window seat, watching birds and squirrels, or simply basking in the sun. Gatsby is food-motivated and anticipates the daily offering of Temptations hard treats and the twice-daily Fancy Feast Savory Centers wet food. She is also intrigued by the food her humans eat, always showing interest.Gatsby shares a special bond with her very shy sister, Zelda. Gatsby's comforting presence is crucial for Zelda, making their companionship indispensable. Therefore, they need to be adopted together to ensure Zelda feels secure and supported.Zelda girl is more reserved initially, but once you gain her trust, this pretty lady will snuggle next to you and be content with extended petting in a place where she feels secure. She will jump up next to you on the couch to be petted and absolutely loves to have her cheeks rubbed – almost as much as she enjoys sitting on the cat ledge looking out the window. Zelda does like to play; stick toys and catnip toys are a favorite, along with watching birds and squirrels on the iPad screen for “cat TV.”Even though she has had 13 teeth pulled since coming into foster care, this sweet girl is still a gourmet eater—she especially loves Temptations chicken-flavored hard treats. When the bag is rattled, she jumps on the bed and gives a little squeak to let you know she is ready for a yummy snack. (Zelda doesn’t really meow except when driving in the cat carrier to the vet.) After treat time, she will snuggle up next to you to be petted.Coming in to foster care and having multiple veterinary visits can be very stressful to a sensitive girl like Zelda. This stress is most likely what caused an episode with cystitis while in foster care. She is currently on a urinary care cat diet and is doing just fine. Her forever humans will need to continue this special diet, to ensure that this lovely girl lives her happiest and healthiest life. (She does still enjoy a few bites of Fancy Feast Savory Center wet food every day as a special treat.)Gatsby and Zelda would thrive in a home without other pets and with older, gentle, mature children and calm adults. Their unique needs and personalities make this the best environment for them to feel safe, happy, and loved. They deserve a caring, peaceful home where they can continue to give love and joy while spending time with loving, consistent adults who will give Zelda the time she needs to develop trust and feel safe.If you’re ready for double the love this summer, please consider adding the lovely Gatsby and her beautiful sister Zelda to your home and your heart.—Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat?
