Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Sesame

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Sesame is the name of this chubby black ball of fur.  Sesame and his siblings Poppy, Sunflower and Chia were all born in our foster care when their mom Onyx was trapped finally after 5 years of trying to TNR her in a managed colony.  Onyx was too far along to be spayed so she went to foster care and had her babies.  All of the kittens look exactly like her too! Sesame is a big sweet guy who gets along with the other cats in the room and likes to lounge with his brother Sunflower.  Sesame would be a great cat for kids because he is very tolerant and loves to have attention too.  Sesame and his siblings were born April of 2022 and have been waiting for someone to choose them to go home!  He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped.  As always our adoption fee for cats/kittens is free will to approved applicants.

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.

Look for other cats for adoption!
