Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Marmite

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org***   This gorgeous girl is Marmite!  She took a ride underneath a pick up for about 60 miles until they ended up here at the shelter and we were able to gently coax her out from where she had gotten herself wedged in.  Marmite is sweet but very unsure of people yet.  She will tolerate some pets but only from a spot where she feels safe.  She does enjoy the company of the other cats but isn't in to rough play and will retreat back to her safe spot if the others get too boisterous.  Marmite will need a home that is quiet, patient, soft spoken and gentle to help make her feel comfortable.  A home with children or teens that are loud and rambunctious will not be a good fit.  She most likely won't want a home with a curious dog or over bearing cat either.  We feel that Marmite has the potential to be a wonderful and affectionate companion given the right setting.  She was born around the first part of June 2023 and she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  As always our adoption fee for cats/kittens is free will to approved applicants.

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.

Look for other cats for adoption!
