Meet Sky

Sky's approximate date of birth is August 29, 2023. She is spayed and vaccinated. She tested negative for FIV/Felv and she has a registered microchip. Her adoption fee is $350.00 + tax. Sky: Welcome to The Purrfect Match! Where we bring cats and humans together, forever! I am your host and today we will be meeting the Beautiful Sky. 1. What are you most looking for in an adopter? I am looking for someone who is patient, kind and understanding. Someone who will love me unconditionally for who I am. I was born outdoors and though I have come very far, I am still learning how to trust and live the indoor life. 2. What do you think is important for a healthy human cat relationship? I think trust is very important both ways. I need to trust that a human will forever provide safety, love, toys, comfort, and a trip to the doctor if I ever don't feel good. My human can trust me to be kind and comforting when they need it too. It just might take me a little longer than a 'normal' kitty. 3. What is the best gift you've ever received? I would say my foster mama bringing me indoors from the scary outdoors. Also my kitty cave bed, I love napping in it because it makes me feel safe. 4. Are you more of an introvert or extrovert? At the moment I am 75% extroverted. I am working really hard on being confident! Sometimes I still just need my alone time. When I am out and about I enjoy pets and scratches, laying on a lap, and being picked up and snuggled. When I am in my cave bed I am recharging my social battery and want to be left alone. Ember is inspiring me though and I am getting better! 5. Do you have any pet peeves? When I am in my cave bed and my foster mama tries to pet or pick me up. I get upset and hiss. Only because I want left alone and am a little scared. I have never hurt anyone. 6. How do you prefer to relax in your free time? I enjoy taking naps with Ember, laying on a window shelf, basking in the sunshine and grooming myself. Also recharging in my cave bed. 7. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Both. I can be awake and alert with my human in the morning in no time, but sometimes I also enjoy playing with Ember or chasing a ball at midnight. I don't do it for long though because I know everyone is sleeping. 8. Is there anything you are scared of? The outdoors and unpredictable things like loud noises and movements. A human coming at me quickly also scares me because I don't know what they are doing to do. Humans weren't nice to me when I was little and lived outdoors but my foster mama says I am doing so good at overcoming that experience! 9. If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring with you? Unlimited canned food for sure, a girl has to eat! My sister Ember and my cave bed. 10. Would you relocate for the perfect adopter? Absolutely! My foster mama lives in the middle of nowhere and she said she is willing to give me a ride anywhere for the perfect human. 11. What is your most favorite food? Any canned food really, but I especially like chicken and tuna. Treats too of course! 12. How much alone time do you typically need? I would say about 25% of my time right now is alone time, but I am getting better at being confident and wanting to be around humans! I have always been on the independent side and don't ask for much or make a fuss. My foster mama calls me a 'typical tuxedo'. 13. Have you ever lived with another cat or a dog? Yes. I was born outside and lived with a handful of other big cats and also my family. I like living with other cats, especially my sister Ember. My foster mama introduced me to a dog and he was big but nice, and I think I could live with a dog as long as they are nice. 14. Who is your best friend and why are they your best friend? My best friend is my sister Ember. She is my best friend because she plays with me, comforts me and snuggles with me. She inspires me to come out of my shell and be confident. We have always been there for each other and I would be lost without her. 15. What is a non-negotiable that you need in an adopter? I need my human to be my forever human. I never want to live outside ever again and I have heard how scary shelters are, I never want to go there. I also need my human to understand that I may be a little scared when I move in at first, but I promise as soon as we establish trust I will be myself and will work hard on being their friend and confidant. 16. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? I am a good girl. I always use the bathroom box, keep my fur clean and pretty, and don't scratch furniture and only use my scratchers. I won't ask for much and even though I may be scared at first, I will try my best to become the real me. I love love the indoor life and it's where I belong. I am hoping to find a couple to adopt me and Ember together. I think I will be able to have more confidence and comfort with her in my life forever. Perhaps a couple where one human wants a needy snuggly kitty and the other wants an independent aloof one? I know my perfect adopters are out there and I can't wait to meet them! *If you would be interested in meeting a Saving Tails Animal Rescue pet or being considered for an adoption, please complete an adoption application at savingtails.org. Saving Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is a 501(c)3 registered no-kill, non profit animal rescue. All animals are placed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them. Because there is not a physical shelter location, foster homes are needed to help rescue local animals who are in danger of euthanasia. If you would be interested in fostering an animal in need, please complete a foster application at savingtails.org.

Adoption Process
Adoption Application- Individuals interested in adopting a Saving Tails Animal Rescue animal can view all available animals on the STAR website. When they find an animal that they may be interested in meeting they will then complete an adoption application. This will then start the process of a potential adoption. It does not “bind” an applicant to the specified animal that they complete the application for, it merely is a request to meet an available STAR animal. Application Review- All Applications are thoroughly reviewed. If the applicant may be the right match for the animal, it will be forwarded to the foster caregiver for review. If the foster caregiver feels that their foster animal would be a good fit for the potential adopter; he or she will contact the applicant to answer questions about the animal and make arrangements for a meet and greet. Please understand that it is very important to find the right match for both the animal and the adopter. An application that is not approved for a certain animal does not necessarily mean that the adopter would not make a great pet guardian; it merely means that the adoption may not have been the right match. Approval to go Forward with a Meet and Greet- Meet and greets are scheduled with the foster caregiver and the potential adopter. These can be done at any convenient location for the foster caregiver. Adoption events would be the preferred location, but often time they are done at the caregiver’s home, the potential adopter’s home, or an animal friendly business. Home Visit- If after the meet and greet, the animal is determined to be the right match for the adopter, the adoption will then be listed as “pending”. A home visit will then be completed by a STAR volunteer. This is a home visit to determine if the home is a safe place for the animal. If a dog requires a fenced in yard, this will also be thoroughly checked at this time. Finalize Adoption- After the home visit is approved, the adoption can then be finalized. There will be an adoption contract to fill out and the adoption fee to make payment for. Arrangements can then be made with the foster caregiver to pick up the new family member!
