Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Currently Living at:  PetSmart Oxon Hill (6005 Oxon Hill Road Oxon Hill, MD 20745)    Come say hello to me during the store's operating hours! I am located in the Petsmart Adoptions center area on the right side of the store! If you want to play with me or adopt me, you will need to complete the adoption process through Lucky Dog Animal Rescue! I am Looking For: My loving forever family! Hi! I'm Tundra, a handsome boy that's ready to have fun with my new family.  I won’t ask for much- just some love, cuddles and lots of toys so I can run and play and be my kitten self and a home that will let my brother, Tonka, come along too! What the Shelter Says About Me: I was asked to take in an emaciated momma cat who was barely a year old with two kittens after their owner moved and left momma behind. It was cold outside, night time, and very rainy. Ladies who were feeding a colony near the house the owners used to live in noticed momma had been left, she was now just skin and bones. She barely weighed 5 pounds, so they were shocked she not only had given birth but was able to nurse babies! Unfortunately, we believe she had given birth to a bigger litter with only two kittens surviving living in such horrible conditions and momma's lack of milk supply due to lack of food. After unsuccessfully trying to catch them for days, the kittens ended up being so weak from malnutrition they couldn't run away any longer, so were finally easily caught. Momma was in such desperate need of help for her and her babies she walked right up to the women!    We knew we had to act immediately or the remaining two kittens and momma wouldn't have lived much longer. They were covered in fleas, full of worms, and barely had the energy to even lift their heads up. I took them in and had to supplement feed both boys and even momma with KMR formula, wet cat food, pedialyte, and vitamins after drying them off and getting them warm on a heating pad, since they were all so cold and wet. Both boys were  nursing off momma and had to be syringe fed KMR for the first two weeks as they were so weak.    Despite everything they've been through, they're my sweetest and most loving babies I have! They want to be with you all the time. Tonka has to follow me around while I clean litter boxes, swat at the water when I fill up their water bowls, and plays with my feet, legs, hoodie strings and my hair hanging down. They also love to climb up your legs and jump on your back, especially Tundra, who I say Spidermans onto me. Its so adorable! He will also reach out or up asking to be held so he can give hugs and love on you, or will jump on your back any time you bend over.     They are both very much like toddlers always into everything, following you around and playing rough. These are my two favorite fosters, I know you aren't supposed to have favorites, but I can't help it! They're just absolute sweethearts and fun babies to play with. What My Friends Say About Me: I am a silly, sweet kitty who will make you laugh when you watch me play! Playtime is my favorite thing in the world - I love any toy you give me! I leap, pounce, and run for my toys. I also love back scratches! I get along great with my cage mate Tonka!
