Meet Patches
Meet Essie and Patches, two incredibly special girls with a deep bond forged through hardship, healing, and heart. Essie is a chatty, outgoing tuxedo girl and Patches is a demure, reserved girl with beautiful white fur and brown tabby patches. Together, they’re a perfect pair of opposites who complete one another! These brave mamas were rescued from life on the streets of Chicago, both pregnant and both in need of emergency C-sections. They both went through days of painful labor to bring their babies into the world! Though they hadn’t met before, Essie and Patches recovered from their surgeries side by side in their foster home, and formed a deep and inseparable bond. These girls supported one another through their difficult recovery and even co-parented their kittens together. It was so adorable to see their five kittens raised together as siblings, nursing from both moms interchangeably. From the moment they met, Essie and Patches became each other’s safe space—and now that their kittens are grown up, they’re ready to find a forever home together!Like many iconic best friend duos, Essie and Patches are total opposites in all the best ways. Essie is the extrovert: a chatty, affectionate, velcro cat who adores attention, lap time, and people of all kinds. She will happily tell you her life story, show off her acrobatic toy-catching skills, and follow you from room to room with her constant purring and little chirps of commentary. Patches, on the other hand, is the quiet soul of the pair. She’s shy and still a bit scared, so she’ll need a gentle, patient adopter who can give her time and space to feel safe. Once she knows she’s secure, she enjoys soft pets and quiet companionship. Patches sometimes gets overwhelmed with fast movement or loud noises and will let you know by hissing, but she’s not aggressive. Essie helps her feel brave and shows her that people are safe – the quickest way to Patches’ heart is through Essie! Patches carefully watches Essie to see if situations are safe before she approaches. It is so sweet to see how much trust is between these two!Essie is easy-going and would thrive in any home, including one with gentle children. However, Patches would do best in a calm and peaceful environment with adults only or older, cat-savvy kids who understand her need for patience and respect. Both girls would likely do well with other resident cats as long as they are given a proper, slow introduction. Most importantly, as long as these two have each other they’ll be happy. Their foster mom has seen how much joy they bring each other every single day. They snuggle, groom one another, chirp back and forth in sweet little conversations, and move through the world as one beautiful, balanced team. These girls have been through so much, but they’ve never stopped loving—their kittens, each other, their caretakers….and maybe next, you? They are ready for their next chapter: a safe, loving forever home where they can leave their hard beginnings behind. Essie and Patches will fill your home with affection, resilience, quiet strength, and so much love. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL LOCATION AS WE ARE A FOSTER-BASED ORGANIZATION. Adoption Process
Thank you for your interest in Forever Fortunate Felines, a division of Fortunate Pooches and Lab Rescue. We are very happy to have the opportunity to match you with your purr-fect cat-panion!
Once you complete the online application using the below link, you will be able to discuss and ask questions directly to the foster parent.  We believe this is a big advantage to you as our organization is completely foster based, we really understand our cats personalities at a deep level. This helps to ensure a great match with you and your family.
In order to get the process going, would you kindly fill out our detailed online application located here:Â
https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/11683/generic
Completing our online application does not commit you to adopt from our rescue. Â Rather it helps us to understand your requirements and match you with the best possible cat or kitten.
Once you complete the application and it is approved, we can set up a meet and greet and if all works out, you may bring the kittens or cats home the same day. Please make sure to bring an adequately sized pet carrier with you to your meet and greet. We recommend a pet carrier which opens from the top as this is the easiest way to place a cat inside a carrier. If you do decide to adopt, we do expect you to take home your cat the same day as there are so many cats and kittens which need to be rescued from high kill shelters, we almost always rescue a new cat or kitten the very next day. If it is not possible for you to take your cat or kitten home the same day, we do charge a boarding fee of $3 per day for supplies and to encourage you to take your newly adopted cat home. We will board for a maximum of 3 days if needed to allow you time to get needed supplies.
Our adoption fees are listed at the link below. This fee includes full vetting, flea treatment, de-worming, spay surgery, FeLV and FIV test, microchip insertion, and vaccinations up to date for the kittens or cats age. We are able to accept cash, check, paypal, or most major credit cards for the adoption fee.

We have streamlined our adoption process to make it easy!  Everything from the application, to payment, to the contract is online.  Additionally, all of the cats records will be placed in your free Petlovers account at petstablished.com to keep organized.
