Meet Nyx
Date of Birth: 4/18/19Adoption Fee: $100.00Date Posted: 4/24/25Hi! My name is Nyx. The rescue people named me that because it means "transformation". That is pretty fitting for me at this point in my life. Life was good and then all of a sudden something scary happened. The humans that I loved put me in a carrier and left me. It turns out the people who live there really love kitties so they have a rescue that saves cats just like me. The rescue lady thinks my humans loved me but were in a bad situation. Do you know why she thinks that? The biggest reason is because I am SO STINKIN' SWEET! I immediately started purring when the rescue lady picked me up to hold me. I pressed my head into her hand to tell her I was happy she saved me. She put me down on the floor and I walked right back over to her to rub my body against her leg while I continued to let my purr motor run. Within a day or two, I was contentedly sunning myself beside a window while the sun shone on my lovely MARBLE TABBY COAT. I happily stand up or walk over to greet foster mom every time she comes in the room! Sometimes, foster mom lays on the sofa in the living room to watch TV. I follow her in there, jump right up, and curl into a ball behind her legs to settle in for a nice, long snuggle. My first humans gave me lots of food so I could stand to lost a few pounds....but don't worry, it is no big deal. I went to the vet and my bloodwork shows that I am in perfect health. The vet says I am 6-years-young with many years ahead to love my true forever family. I will be fine as a single kitty or in a home with other cats who are laidback and enjoy chillin' out like me. My foster mom has large dogs that often stand or lay on the other side of the baby gate to check out us foster kitties. I keep my distance a little but they don't stress me out. I just remain in my spot calmly observing them. This is why my foster mom thinks I will be just fine with calm-natured doggy friends too. Life threw me a curveball but I didn't allow an unpleasant surprise to take me out of the game! I am an affectionate, devoted companion ready to meet my human(s) who will love me for the rest of my life. Will it be you?
Adoption Process
Potential adopters are required to complete a detailed online application. Application screeners are trained to follow specific procedures when reviewing submitted applications. Adoption agreements are completed following approval of the application. Volunteers follow up with adopters to ensure that both people and pets are adjusting well as a family.
Currently, adoption fees are $35 as Pippi's Place is partnering with Barrow County Animal Control to foster animals and facilitate adoptions. Pippi's Place will continue to partner with animal control facilities to support their TNR work through adoptions but will also eventually begin intake of its own rescues. At that point in time, adoption fees will increase to $100 for adults and $125 for kittens to help to cover expenses when the cost of spay/neuter, medication, etc. is no longer subsidized through the partnership with the animal control facility.
