Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is Philadelphia's largest no-kill shelter and is working to make Philadelphia a city in which every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year.In March 2010, PAWS opened a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic serving pet owners and rescues in an effort to keep pets healthy and reduce the homeless pet population. Located in the Grays Ferry section of the city, the Clinic serves pet owners who have difficulty affording or do not have access to basic veterinary care (sterilization, vaccinations, treatments for upper respiratory infections/parasites/fleas, etc.) and rescue organizations that need affordable spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to carry out their lifesaving work. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other efforts, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Meet Tubs

Looking for a goofy, playful, and cuddly companion? Tubs is your guy! This handsome former tomcat is the total package, a laidback guy who loves to be around his people. Tubs has a playful side, and will entertain you with his excellent toy mice hunting and wand chasing abilities. When he wants to chill, Tubs will keep you company wherever you are and makes a wonderful work from home companion. He will happily hang out on a nearby chair or your lap, and also loves a window seat to bird watch from. Tubs will ask for cuddles, and even likes to be held like a baby! He has been very open and friendly with new people, and instantly charms his new friends his adorable sock paws and goofy personality. When he is done with attention, he will gently let you know and go off to hang out nearby. Tubs can get hangry sometimes (don't we all?); he likes his food to be delivered on time, and will vocally let you know when its time to eat! Tubs's FIV & FELV status means he will need to be a solo cat in his forever home. Tubs is ready to be spoiled with all love you can offer! Please reach out to learn more about this handsome hunk. Age: 2 How I came to PAWS: Transfer from ACCT (city intake shelter) Animal ID#: A55737 I am not at the shelter. Please email my foster parent at [email protected] to learn more about me! FIV+ This pet has tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which means their immune system is less developed but doesn't require special treatment or affect their chances to live a full and happy life. Staff will be happy to tell you more about FeLV if you have any questions at all, or you can learn more about it here! FeLV+ This pet has tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which causes a weakened immune system. FeLV cats may have shorter lifespans than other kitties, but they don't require medication or daily treatment. With a caring home and attentive person who can catch any early signs of illness, FeLV cats will live otherwise normal, happy lives. Only cats can catch FeLV, so they are able to live with other species (or other cats who are FeLV positive). Staff will be happy to tell you more about FeLV if you have any questions at all, or you can learn more about it here!
