THIS animal listing is a COURTESY LISTING - not a 13th St Cat Rescue animal.See information about whom to contact in bio THANK YOU An October-born void, TT is a little "Halloween" baby, who leans a little too far into the fear aspect of the holiday as he tends to run and hide from sudden movements, new people, new objects, or occasionally even just his food dishes if they are put in front of him too fast. Don't let the up-front caution fool you: he has the loudest purr and stays in his foster mom's lap longer than either of his remaining siblings when he decides to cuddle and can be very playful when invited to wrestle with a sibling or offered a piece of string by a trusted human. He will likely grow up to be "that" cat who watches you everywhere and then comes over to cuddle once you're sitting still at the end of the day, but never be seen if guests are over. He loves laps and chin scritches. TT's name comes from an original "placeholder" name, "Tiny Tim", as when his litter was rescued from December weather he was uniquely malnourished, underweight, and suffering so badly from a kitty cold that we were concerned that he would not pull through and did not want to properly name him. By the time he did pull through, to now be almost 2 pounds heavier than his sisters, it had shortened to "TT" and just kind of stuck with him. TT has come to rely strongly on his bonded, much more outgoing sibling Pogchamp, to "go first" to explore new places and things to show him that it's safe, and tackle him to shift him from fear mode into play mode if he's hiding too much. We hope to keep the pair together as they both provide each other with strong balance. Pogchamp is also listed on 13th Street cats, please check her out! for more imfo- contact joanne at [email protected]
Adoption Process
To meet our rescued cats/kitten: we ask that you fill out an adoption application first. Once you submit an application, a volunteer will contact you. All of our kitties are in foster homes; some can be seen at the foster homes, or at an upcoming Adoption Fair. We ask for your understanding: We are an all-volunteer organization and many of us have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer activities; therefore, it may be a few days before someone can respond to your email. We always try to reply as soon as possible. The kitties are for adoption, not for sale. Adoption fee for kittens is $125 ($200 for two) to help cover some of our food and veterinary expenses. All cats and kittens are:
vaccinated as appropriate for their age
microchipped
dewormed
deflead
tested for FELV (feline leukemia) / FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus)
spayed/neutered prior to adoption
We will ask you some questions about your home and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Adopting a kitty is a long-term commitment; the average life span for a kitty is 15-20 years.
Most of our cats are in foster homes with other cats. They get lonely and bored without the company of their own kind, just like people. We try to place cats that enjoy the company of other cats in a home where there is feline companionship. But we do have many cats that would be happy to be the only cat in your life!
Regardless of how an animal comes to us, we provide food, shelter, and medical care. The animals do not live in cages but in volunteer foster homes. We usually know the personalities of the cats and kittens we rescue, so we can tell you which cat or kitten(s) might be the best match for you and/or the feline companion you already have.
