Saving One Life

Saving One Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer run, animal rescue that focuses almost completely on the animals that would have been otherwise euthanized at the pound or humane society. Our motto is that although we can't save the world, it makes a world of difference to the ones we do save. We specialize in purebred cats, feral kittens, and severe medical cases when we have funding to do so. We very rarely take owner surrender animals. We are a no kill group and we only euthanize animals for medical issues that cannot be fixed with veterinary care (fatal illnesses, extreme prolonged suffering). We provide hospice care for animals in our care with terminal illnesses. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes until they are able to go up for adoption. We may occasionally have animals in foster homes as long as four years (the running record so far) until they are adopted – once an animal is in our rescue, we will do everything feasible to care for that animal. Our foster animals live as a “part of the family” until they are able to be put up for adoption. If we can, we will test them with cats, dogs, and children depending on who lives in the home. Not all cats get tested with kids or dogs if they are not available. As a result of this, we really care where and how our animals are placed. We want the best possible situation for our animals AND the adoptive family. We reserve the right to deny any adoption.

Meet Cory McCloskey

Approximate Date of Birth:1/15/2019 Description:   Hello! My name is Cory and I am a handsome little ginger guy who would like to be your quiet companion. With your gentle scritches and petting, on my head and neck my inner extrovert will slowly emerge, however, and it will not be long before I start chatting to let you know how much I like your affection. Once I am ready for long strokes from my head to my tail, I might even show you my "turn and twirl in circles" move. I have also been known to jump and dance at the wand toy! I am an easygoing guy who likes other easygoing types (both kitties and people!) and I imagine that my purr-fect family is out there waiting for me! Words to Describe Me: Quiet, non-aggressive, comfortable with other easy-going kitties and enjoys their presence Favorite Place to Sleep: On top of my scratch pad, under the rocking chair, on the sofa, or in the darkened guest room on the bed Favorite Toy: A wand toy with a mouse on the end, or a plastic ball to chase. Perfect Day: Gentle chin scratches before breakfast, some play with the wand toy, a leisurely nap. Wake up, stretch, Repeat! Kitty's Likes: Gentle forehead scratches which turn into full length strokes and scratches to the tip of my tail! And I love to be brushed! Kitty's Dislikes: I'm learning to be more comfortable being picked up or sitting on a lap. Fastest Way to Get Me to Purr: Scratch my chin and my cheeks! Favorite Treat: "Gravy" (water mixed with my pate), or Churu! Job Title in Foster: Mr. Mellow - Keeping a calm, relaxing vibe going for the household kitty clan. When I Grow Up, I Want to Be: Your quiet, easygoing buddy who appreciates your affection, enjoys a chat and some wand toy action for a little exercise! Other Info: Cory is a super sweet boy who is remembering again that people can be his best friends and that life as a house cat is pretty darn nice! He is working on his shyness, but he is truly a gentle guy and has made daily progress with his social and conversational skills. A routine of pets, scratches, brushing and wand play spread throughout the day have helped him transition to his new life, and he is comfortable with other kitties who just go about their business and allow him to go about his.                Good with Cats: Loves cats. Good with Dogs: Unknown .  Good with Children: Can live in a house where children occasionally visit, as long as the children are pet-friendly.  Companion Animal: Requires a companion if left alone for long periods of time. Health information: All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, FeLV / FIV tested (as indicated by age), receive vaccinations appropriate for age, preventative deworming, and microchipping prior to adoption as appropriate by age. Cory is FIV positive which is not contagious to other cats.  FIV positive cats live with FIV negative cats. Learn more about FIV . Adoption Process:   Our adoptable animals are located at one of our adoption centers or in foster homes. We require interested parties to apply prior to meeting to ensure a good match. Applications can be submitted on our website at  www.savingonelife.org/adopt/apply. PetSmart Adoption Centers:    For more information on our locations,  visit  https://www.savingonelife.org/adopt/locations .

Adoption Process
All adopters must complete an application with possible brief interview if there are additional questions concerning the application. All adopters also sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee depending on the age, breed, and status of the cat (special needs etc).

Look for other cats for adoption!
