How do I train my dog to use the DachRamp?
Whether or not you think your Dachshund needs a dog ramp, they probably do. Prevention is key to a healthy and happy life for your sausage dog. If you’ve trained your Weiner dog in the past, training your dog to use a dog ramp shouldn’t be an issue. The trick for most Dachshunds is training with treats, and lots of praise when they use the ramp. The key is to start slow and be patient. Start the training by placing the dog ramp in an area where your Doxie feels comfortable, such as your living room or bedroom.
Then, entice your dog to climb up the ramp by placing treats or their favorite toy at the top. With a little time and patience, your Dachshund will be using the dog ramp like a pro in no time! For more details on training your dog to use the PawRamp, read our Ramp Training Guide. -
What's the difference between the Lite and Full ramp?
- The two most common types of dog ramps are light ramps and full ramps. Light ramps are typically smaller and lighter in weight, making them easy to transport and store. A light Dachramp is designed for dogs who are able to jump small heights, such as from a couch or bed.
- Full ramps, on the other hand, are larger and heavier. A full Dachramp is taller and typically has a steeper incline,
- Both types of ramps can be foldable and portable, making them easy to store
The DachRamp Full 40 inches (100 cm) in length and 16 inches (40 cm) wide. There are four adjustable heights at:
- 12 inches (30 cm)
- 16 inches (40 cm)
- 20 inches (50 cm)
- 24 inches (60 cm)
The bearings and support of the DachRamp Full have been tested to hold up to 80 lbs (35 kg) and the ramp itself weighs 11 lbs.
The DachRamp Lite is 32.5 inches (82 cm) in length and 14 inches (35 cm) wide. The DachRamp Lite has two adjustable heights at:
- 12 inches (30 cm)
- 16 inches (40 cm)
The bearings and support of the DachRamp Lite have been tested to hold up to 70 lbs (30 kg) and the ramp itself weighs 8 lbs.

Can the DachRamp be used for cars?
We recommend the Car Ramp for Dogs. It's portable and weather-resistant while helping your Dachshund access any vehicle.
While you can use the DachRamp™ for travel, compared to the car ramp, it will be bulkier and heavier to carry. Additionally, the car ramp is foldable and doesn't take up much space so if you're packing for a road trip, it's best to carry the lighter and smaller dog ramp!

Are dog ramps a new trend?
According to a recent report, dog ramps are becoming increasingly popular. dog owners are using them to help their dogs get in and out of cars, onto beds and couches, and over other obstacles.
There are a number of reasons why dog ramps may be gaining in popularity. One reason is that they can help to prevent injuries. They're also a better option than stairs.
Dogs are susceptible to joint problems, and jumping from heights can exacerbate these issues. Ramps can also help to make life easier for older dogs or those with disabilities. In addition, ramps can be used as a training tool for puppies or for dogs who are fearful of heights. Regardless of the reason, it seems that dog ramps are here to stay.
