Meet Ollie
This is Ollie! He’s a short and stout guy that greets every glance with an enthusiastic tail wag. He is a people-oriented dog that loves getting pets and is always on the lookout for food. His love for food caused him to gain a few extra pounds that put stress on his joints, so he’s currently on a diet and trying to lose about 5 pounds. He is a very easy houseguest who spends most of the day sleeping and sniffing around the yard. He is potty trained and doesn’t need to be put in a crate because he doesn’t look for any trouble. Ollie is the perfect companion for someone with a slower paced life who is looking for an easy-going companion.Ollie walks a little stiffly due to recently-diagnosed arthritis in his hind legs, but he should be able to live a long and happy life with proper weight and pain management. In spite of his aches, Ollie still enjoys going for short walks and being outside with his people. He is learning how to use the stairs at his foster home and would do best in a single-level living environment or home with minimal stairs. He’s not too sure of hardwood floors at the moment, so he prefers to hang out on area rugs and carpeted floors.Ollie can be a bit grumpy at times with other dogs and will let out a growl when he wants to keep his space. He does okay with dogs that respect his bubble and plays every once in a while now that he is warming up to his new environment. He had flying colors on his behavioral assessments from the sending shelter, so it is possible that his attitude is a result of being in pain and may dissipate with the proper pain management regimen. Not much is known about his past, but it seems as though Ollie came from a loving home and is used to being a constant companion to his people. He is eagerly waiting for a new family to receive his love.* Ollie does have arthritis in his knees and likely both Cranial Cruciate Ligaments in his knees are torn and will be having surgery which is covered by MARS.If you have previously applied with us please email [email protected] to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.
