VT Dog Rescue

VT Dog Rescue is a non-profit canine rescue focused on saving the Underdog. The sweet dogs who are passed over day after day simply because they are not perfect. Who is an underdog?- older dogs who are wise and love to snuggle- tri-pawed dogs who are happily enjoying life with 3 legs- shy dogs who need a little extra love to help them build confidence - dogs who may limp or have a physical limitation that humans see as a flaw, but they accept with dignity - dogs who are missing an eye and have adapted to navigate their world The Underdogs have, against all odds, retained their ability to be loyal and trusting companions who love us unconditionally. We believe the Underdogs, just like other shelter dogs, deserve to be rescued and placed in loving, responsible homes where they can shine.

Meet Kenzie

Meet our special needs girl, Kenzie! She was in an Alabama shelter for a couple of months and showed signs of a neurological issue. Our southern partner was able to secure a foster for Kenzie, and we have been working together as a team to support this courageous pup. Kenzie is five months old, 15 lbs, and the sweetest! Kenzie is doing amazing in her foster home. She is fully potty trained, affectionate, bright, alert, and responsive. Although she has a wobbly gait, she is gaining strength and mobility has improved. She recently had an appointment with a neurologist who diagnosed Kenzie with a cerebellar disorder as well as visual impairment most likely due to a birth defect or an infection of some sort. Kenzie will soon be taking a trial drug to determine the next course of action. VT Dog Rescue would like to bring this deserving pup to VT, but to do that, we need a foster or a forever family. We are hopeful for the best outcome. One thing is evident, Kenzie has no idea she is different! She is a sweetheart and a fighter! Our adoption fee is $400 which includes age-appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, and Rabies), neutering, worming, microchipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming, and similar dog-related products and services are provided
