Meet Moxie

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Gender: Female Estimated Date of Birth: November 7, 2015 Size:  52 lbs Location:  Stockbridge, GA RESCUING MOXIE Moxie, formerly known as Penelope, was surrendered to Henry County Animal Control. She belonged to a military veteran, struggling with his mental health. Moxie is deaf. He had her trained on a shock collar, but he let her off leash and would shock her at a high level until she cried in order to find her location. This poor man who served our country and was unable to take care of himself let alone a dog so Moxie ended up at Animal Control.   ABOUT MOXIE Due to her deafness, Moxie does startle if she cannot see you coming, however she is extremely loving. Moxie adores people and is getting all the TLC she needs in foster care. She is housebroken and crate-trained. She is an active girl who loves to chase a Kong and play fetch. Sometimes when she runs, she throws both legs back at the same time and looks like a bunny! Although she is deaf, she already knows sit, down, kennel-up, and fetch as she is food-motivated and really wants to make her people happy. She knows how to fetch and doesn't mind people taking the ball away from her. Once she burns off some energy, Moxie is happy to cuddle and is incredibly sweet. Moxie would LOVE a forever family that can show her the joys of being surrounded by love and stability. She needs someone patient and willing to work with her as learning takes longer due to her hearing loss. She might be okay with a calm canine companion her size or larger as well as she occasionally gets to play with two large male dogs at the Pit Bull Palace, although slow introductions are necessary as she can be picky about her dog friends.
