Meet Terrance

Meet Terrance!  This handsome fellow was rescued from a rural shelter in North Carolina.  We saw his name on the euthanasia list and knew we had to save him. We picked him up the day he was to be euthanized.   Terrance is an energetic and goofy young man. At just around a year old, this mixed breed boy is full of energy and the perfect size at just around 40 lbs. He is a velcro dog of sorts so may have some Staffordshire terrier in him.  He is great with other dogs his age and energy level. He likes to play with the bigger female dog in his foster home. He may need slow introductions as he can be a little unsure at first. Terrance is super curious about cats. He will try to chase them, so it is not recommended to leave him unsupervised with a feline friend. All he needs is a quick correction or redirection and he’ll stop immediately. Terrance gets really excited, mainly due to his young age. He jumps and bunny hops when he’s excited so we would not recommend a home with small children. He will try to nibble on your hands in an attempt to lick them when he’s really worked up, which if you don’t know better could be startling.  Fortunately, he’s a quick learner and is eager to please so this behavior can be discouraged with a little training.  Terrance is amazing in his crate. He does not make a peep unless he needs to go outside. He is fine in his crate while your away and sleeps in his crate all night. Terrance is pretty much completely house broken. He had a couple of accidents while he got acclimated to his foster home but otherwise as long as he’s able to go out every couple of hours or is in his crate, he won’t do his business in the house. Terrance will do anything for a treat. He’s highly food motivated. He loves anything he can chew on for a while. He will sit, lay down, come and go in his crate with simple hand gestures and treats. He is not destructive and loves a good chew toy. Terrance walks well on a leash as long as he’s wearing a harness instead of just a collar. He does not like to be led or grabbed by the collar. That being said, he is a young energetic dog and needs a moderate amount of exercise. He’s very easy to care for as long as he gets some good play time in. He also does really well in the car and loves to look out the window to check everything out. Terrance’s favorite game is to retrieve a ball that you throw, over and over again!   He’ll bring it back to you until he’s tired. Then he’s ready for a nap and pretty chill for most of the day. He also does great and seems to really enjoy puzzles and things that he can interact with. Terrance would make an amazing companion for a variety of different living situations. He’s very adaptable and loves affection. He’s just a silly guy looking to be someone’s best buddy! Terrence is neutered and up to date on all preventatives and vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm positive and has undergone treatment. He will only need a ProHeart injection in six months to complete his treatment.  Terrance is located in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. Home visit approved application and adoption donation of $200 required.

Adoption Process
