Queen Layla is a Chihuahua Beagle Mixalicious Lovie with a gorgeous fawn fur coat! At the age of nine, she prefers to hang out with older kids and adults, they seem to know just how to make her happy. She is an excellent co-pilot on car rides, would love to spend time on the patio or a long walk on the beach. She enjoys having her very own toys to play with but will drop them at the chance to get the zoomies with the other dogs and cats. Layla can hang out on a Saturday night but will need to sleep in on Sunday morning. Since she is already house trained, that won’t be a problem. Layla is a perfect size for a house or apartment weighing just 34lbs. We decided to conduct an interview with her to get some answers straight from the young lady herself. We asked what she wanted to be when she grows up and she said, “On the cover of Vogue of course, my foster mom says I’m a natural. ❤️. If she were a food she’d be a decadent blonde brownie. We asked what’s her favorite place she has visited and she said her foster mom’s lap because they love to watch crime TV together. Am I more of a Drama Club or Marching Band kind of girl? Definitely a Book Club, silly! My marching days are over but I’m into prancing around anywhere. We wanted to know if she considers herself a party girl or a home body and she said she is perfect for an adult tea party but you’ll have to provide the pearls, tea, and petit fours. Lastly, we wanted to know her digits to get in touch later. She said not to worry about her number, just go to her website at Adoptapitrescue.org and apply for Layla, they’re on a first name basis!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
