Meet SILVER

Our beautiful, but shy girl, is called Silver and what an exquisitely marked, purebred Norwegian Elkhound she is.   At just 18 months old and 38 pound, Silver was recently rescued from a breeder situation that became overwhelming and too many in numbers for the elderly woman.  This girl was successfully spayed on March 16th and has been cleared in good health and ready for a new family and home.   When you see this girl in these pics you can tell she is frightened and indeed she was just coming out of surgery hours before and going to a new beginning with a foster home.  Over the past 2 weeks Silver has slowly begun to show off her amazing, curly tail and to smile for her foster parents.  Silver has experienced many new things the past few weeks, and it has been challenging for her timid nature. With kindness and patience, we have seen her become playful and more open to new adventures and first time experiences in her young life. She rides quietly in the car, walks well on a leash, got along well at the dog park, plays with chew toys and hasn't had any accidents in the house. She has responded well to her foster mom, and seems reluctant to trust men, but we know she will be fine with them if given time to build a trusting relationship. Like most dogs this girl loves being petted and belly rubs, enjoys having her luxurious coat brushed  (a first in her life), and shows affection to her human friends with licks and cuddles.  Silver sleeps quietly outside of a crate at night on her dog bed on the floor. She comes when called and enjoys mealtimes. When frightened or unsure, she will retreat to a secluded spot until she feels comfortable.  She has adapted very well to life with the two dogs in the foster home because she's easygoing. Silver looks to her foster dog siblings for guidance. She would do best in a home with another confident dog.  Our wish for Silver is to live with a gentle, kind, patient owner or owners with another dog and even a cat included in the family. She will reward her family with loads of love and affection.    If you are interested please email us at [email protected]   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or [email protected]

Adoption Process
All potential adoptors must complete the application request form on any dog. Before placing a dog with an adoptor Critter Companion conducts a vet check to ensure proper health, gets the dog up to date on all shots and neuters the dog.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
