Southern Ocean County Animal Facility

The Ocean County Health Department operates two animal facilities. The Ocean County Animal Facilities provide temporary housing for dogs and cats and maintain a 24-hour receiving service for stray animals that are brought in by Municipal Animal Control Officers. Features of the shelters include indoor/outdoor dog runs, cat rooms, isolation areas and surgical facilities. All of the pets we adopt out are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations, and receive a general health exam from our veterinarian.

Meet Rocky

Rocky, Pit Bull, Blue and White, Male neutered, 7 months old Rocky is a very handsome and friendly boy!  He has a lot of energy, and loves to play and go for walks!  Rocky is still a young pup, and would benefit from a family that has experience with his breed that can continue to work on his basic training and give him plenty of exercise.  Rocky would do best in a home with children over the age of 10 years old, as he may be too much for younger children.  ***Our Southern Ocean County Animal Facility is currently closed for renovations.  Please visit our adoptable pets at our temporary location: 20 Collinstown Road, Barnegat NJ 08005.  Please call 609-978-0127 for more information.*** Adoption hours 1-4 p.m. 7 days a week. Contact the facility at (609) 978-0127. All dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and have age appropriate shots.** To adopt our dogs you must come to the facility with your entire family, including dogs, to meet with our staff and the dog you are interested in. You must also provide us with proof of home-ownership or a renter's policy that states you are allowed to have a dog.
