Meet Church

Church, 10 mo old, 38 lb spayed female Fostered in Berryville VA Meet Church! Originally from Kentucky, this pretty lady has made her way to Virginia to find her perfect home.  We guess from her looks that Church is a border collie / cattle dog mix, heavy on the border collie mentality. She is an extremely high energy dog who’s perfect person or couple would be someone who gets outside regularly. She would like me to add that all day every day would be ideal! She is standoffish with strange people, but once she knows someone, she is ok, and thankfully seems to remember them from visit to visit. She is also wary of small kids, so a home with no small kids (preteen/teen should be ok) would be best.  She has been living in a foster home with 3 other dogs her size or larger, and in her temp foster home she lived with smaller dogs. She gets along well with dogs, and wants to play play play, so her energy level and herding instincts have the ability to drive even a ACD puppy a little crazy. She also has been living with some very dog savvy cats, chickens, and goats, and wants to chase and herd all of them. She would do great with an outlet for her exuberance, so training is a requirement for this dog, and she would love a “real” job, like being sport dog (agility, scent work, rally work, etc), or your own personal daily assistant if you work outdoors. At 10 months old, she is still all puppy in an adult body, and needs someone willing to put in the time to bring her to her full potential. She is crate trained and fully house trained, and knows some basic training cues such as sit, down, touch, and paw.    Church is not a social butterfly, so she really hopes her new home doesn’t have a ton of visitors. Her prospective home would need to have lots of patience to work with her on warming up. If you think Church could be the perfect fit for you, please send her foster mom an email at [email protected] or submit an application at ACDRA.org.  Complete an Application: https://www.acdra.org/adoption-application
