Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is Philadelphia's largest no-kill shelter and is working to make Philadelphia a city in which every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year.In March 2010, PAWS opened a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic serving pet owners and rescues in an effort to keep pets healthy and reduce the homeless pet population. Located in the Grays Ferry section of the city, the Clinic serves pet owners who have difficulty affording or do not have access to basic veterinary care (sterilization, vaccinations, treatments for upper respiratory infections/parasites/fleas, etc.) and rescue organizations that need affordable spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to carry out their lifesaving work. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other efforts, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Meet Aloe

Aloe  is a low-riding senior lovebug who will win you over with her heart-melting gaze. She is a pretty spry girl for a senior, and loves to bounce around with her apple-shaped stuffy toy. Despite being found stray, she came equipped with pretty great manners and appears to be housebroken as well!  Aloe  was found with another dog, though we are unsure if they lived together or were just wandering buddies. In foster care,  Aloe  has been a bit barky when she sees other dogs on walks, but those with respectful small dogs could be an appropriate fit, pending a dog meet!  Aloe  has been doing well with crate training, and does not mind being left alone for short periods - though she will spend her time lovingly following you around when you are home, like a little shadow. Aside from mild dental disease,  Aloe  is a very healthy girl who we think has many years left of love. If you're looking for a low-key little friend who's full of spunk and charm, apply for   Aloe  today!   Age: ~8-10 Years How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: 53782 Weight: 13lbs Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess. We get to know each dog as an individual and strive to make matches based on personality, not on breed label.) Location: Foster Care All of our dog meets are by appointment only; to get started, please complete the adoption application. To learn more about this dog, please contact us at [email protected] or 215-298-9680 ext. 16.
