Northstar Pet Rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).

Meet Connie's Dolce KY

Hi, my name is Dolce and I’m looking for a furever family!  I was rescued from a shelter in Kentucky and I am now in foster in NJ. I am about 2 years old and medium in size at around 40 pounds. If you are looking for a companion to always be by your side who loves to play just as much as she loves to snuggle up on the couch or in bed, then…I’m your girl!  I just want to be wherever my people are, so I will follow you around, your adorable little shadow. I’m a great size to squeeze right in between two people on the couch too!    I don’t bark much, but I do make a fun assortment of silly noises when I get excited and want to play! I love to play so I’m ready for fun with you basically any time I’m not sleeping, and probably dreaming about playing! I loves to play tug-of-war and chase down a toy that you throw but I still haven’t quite perfected the part where I’m supposed to bring it back so you can throw it again!    Let’s talk snoozing, I snore!  Usually it's quiet but sometimes can be loud, but my foster pawrents always think it's really cute and they hope you will too!   New situations can be exciting/stressful for me, and I take some time to settle in and relax so I will do best in a calm, quiet house. I have settled in nicely after a few weeks with my fosters,  doing better settling into my crate at bedtime and I’m pulling less on the leash. I do want to be friends with new people, but I’m wary and benefit from a careful introduction at my own pace. I’m so eager to please that we think I will keep improving in these areas with training but while I work on this, an adult only home will be best for me.   I’m really is such a beautiful, loving little friend who is sweet through and through and I would really love to meet YOU!   If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to mention me, Connie’s DOLCE KY!

Adoption Process
Potential adopters will submit an adoption application. The adopters information will be screened including veterinary and personal references. After the first round of screening they will get the chance to meet the pet. If it is a good match, as deemed by NSPR volunteers, the adopter will complete an adoption contract and pay the fee of 375.00. All animals will be spayed/neutered and fully vetted prior to adoption. The only exception would be small puppies in which case the adopter will submit an additional deposit refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. In the event an animal is no longer wanted, the adoption contract will stipulate that the animal always gets returned to us, and is never sold, given away, or surrendered to another rescue or shelter.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
