Meet Luna

Luna is a spayed, 6 year old lab mix. She has been used to running loose on 20 acres her whole life and sleeping in the garage at night. Luna is seeking a new home with a securely fenced back yard where she will be safe, when she's in the mood to be outside. She's never been an "inside dog" but like all dogs adopted through the Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society, it is a MUST that her adoptive family welcome her into their home to be part of the family. Don't let Luna's age or the fact that she's never been an "indoor dog" deter you from adopting her. Our experience has been that most former "outside dogs" truly consider being inside a mega-privilege and house train VERY quickly. Some don't need any training at all, just an observant family that can recognize their signals when they need to go outside to potty. Adult dogs are also wonderful to adopt, especially for busy families! They are past the puppy stage of chewing, bouncing all over the place and generally getting into stuff that they shouldn't and usually don't require the constant vigilance of raising a pup. She is incredibly loving and would do well with an active single person or an active couple. Luna loves car rides, she likes hiking and being outdoors with her human. But, Luna doesn’t like other dogs much and really doesn't like cats, so she needs to be the only dog in the household. She is used to teenagers but not small children. Luna is under going some medical treatment right now for heart worms and will be evaluated frequently. She will be brought up-to-date on vaccines prior to adoption. To apply to adopt Luna, please click on the "More About Us" button toward the bottom at right. That's where you will find a link to our adoption application.

Adoption Process
The adoption process consists of the adopters meeting the animals, filling out a bit of paper work, verification of adoption application information, paying the adoption fee, and agreeing to a post-placement home visit. The adoption fees are: $120 for dogs/puppies older than 6 months and $150 for puppies under 6 months old. Cats/kittens are $85. The adoption agreement is legally binding.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
